Oh I know it's getting there mate.

My point all along has been it should have been ready to go weeks ago. Same with every country in Europe.

They've all failed us by being ill-prepared - and I say that knowing full well this is unprecedented too mate.

But yes, when these tests come it will be a big step. Just wish it had been done sooner because it really should have been foreseen, surely?
It is. Every NHS organisation has to have a pandemic plan, there are local, regional and national pandemic plans (national one was for to be revised this year as it was written 2013).

Equally they will be testing outbreak plans and pandemic plans on an regular basis.

The difficulty is pandemic response is hard to do as you are effectively reacting to a changing environment.

The difficulty has been, and I'm not trying to make a political point here, the lack of resource within the health and social care sector to scale up quickly. It needs time to adjust and get ready over and above on paper preparedness.

You can't expect an instant response to something like a pandemic and you have to balance the requirement for continued activity vs stopping spread.

The cashier would refuse that sale.

We've been doing refusing the last few days.
I've read the press release for tomorrow that says EVERY item will be restricted to 3 per customer going forward.

good .

its sad it’s come to that and that we can’t self regulate only a couple of days into this but I’m glad to see some action being taken .People are pathetic and despite all the rolls of toilet paper they’ve panic bought yet again need businesses and the state to wipe their arses for them

......getting a balance here is really important, particularly keeping an eye on the bigger picture. Understandably, almost everything is coming to a stand still, things are shutting down and folk aren’t working.

As much damage could be done with those already struggling, dropping into poverty and homelessness. There has to be a plan for growth, and not keep the country closed for longer than it needs.

I’m fine and my kids are fortunate to be in jobs where salary continues regardless, but there are lots who are not so lucky. We must be mindful that lots are suffering who haven’t got the virus.
Think we should have a daily eggs update like with the transfer window

The shops should of been stopping this behaviour the other week when the rats were buying up all the bog roll

Absolute selfish scum of society that need ridiculing after all this is over, shame on them

Guaranteed no one connected with Special Dispensation FC even needs bog roll, seeing as they have so many members of the media with their collective tongues up their hoops.

The thing is, the usual massive run on items happens at Xmas.
Now we all know that after 25th December everything goes back to normal.
With this, the public are trying to guess / make informed decisions, on how it's going to play out.
I can understand people wanting certain items tucked away, and indeed, when the buying started, I said to get baby milk in if you needed it. The bog roll thing I didn't envisage though.

Supermarkets in Ireland are limiting purchases to 4 of the same type (Including packs of booze - not individual cans) per customer since last week How are these people still allowed to buy that many???
They are not allowed mate.
That sale would have been jibbed.
The customer however does look Chinese, and for YEARS they have bulk purchased formula milk and sent it back after a contamination scandal in China.
