Barclays Bank predicting 3 vaccines will be approved by the end of the year, another 5 by mid 21.

Question on this.... if a vaccine really is approved in a few weeks, is there any chance of strategic vaccination of a few tens of thousands of people? I.e people most likely to contract and spread... teachers, hospitality, students even? No idea how these things work, just wondering would we really need mass vaccination in order to make a large difference to transmission rates?

Typical no mention of your holy grail of Corbynism- we are debating Covid here stay on subject please .......we have this elitist Government because of Momentum within the Labour Party .......

If we could only get this virus to communicate with you on this forum, I reckon there is fair chance on it vacating the human race as a host...

Aren't they doing certain age groups first? It apparently will take quite a long time to get this done even once the vaccine is in place.

Ah yes. Investment banks and their profound ability to predict the future.

I’ve got to say that from the stuff I’m reading, I’m definitely more bearish about things than consensus.

markets are being a bit complacent if you ask me albeit due to the stimulus package in the US.

Its likely a local jurisdiction decision on how its rolled out mate. similar to the flu jab, you'd imagine health workers and the most vulnerable will be at the head of the que in most jurisdictions, each of the vaccines is administered differently to. Every person who gets vaccinated makes a difference, generally you are looking at about 60-70% herd immunity as a good healthy foundation of having confidence over the virus, though ive read some research that suggest as low as 40% may be a viable target for hope, but everyone vaccinated obviously breaks the chain of infection. Im not sure a percentage of herd immunity really matters, with a vaccine looking the only show in town you would hope for a very high percentage of vaccination once available.
