The ridiculous thing is that Johnson at the beginning of the crisis after lockdown used graphs that underlined the way the virus would be approached and best defeated: a series of major lockdowns after periods of reopening the economy. Then the second quarter economic figures came in and the plan was thrown out of the window and it's been an article of faith ever since that full lockdowns = economic death.
Yep, whatever happened to this ?

We could lock down and support people if they wanted, furlough cost £250 million, bailing out the banks which was universally agreed cost £850 million...


44 billion quid and counting for Trident.

 
Yikes who wants to go into hospital electively...



And of course excess deaths are on the up...




If you read the IMF report, it talks about voluntary distancing being as important as lockdown measures in reducing a countries economy. Local/national evidence seems to suggest that the voluntary distancing extends to all aspects of life where people are committed to it, unsurprisingly, fatally in some respects.
 
curfew and rule of 6 also in place in Madrid, apparently? I know they're having restrictions in Germany, too. Think the numbers are like 10 or something?
