False Information.

The trust is still in planning stage , there has been an increase in space but nothing critical whatsoever. I've even had that email the information is relating to.

There's no critical stage going on in Liverpool hospitals.

In fact services are still in the process of opening consultant clinics back up again and there has been no plan to shut that down.
This isn’t the case in aintree hospital.
It makes you wonder.

Given all the tweets and stats shared about on here and elsewhere with a blue tick next to the name, how much of it is actually true ?
Well my info comes directly from people working there like.

It’s reaching bad levels and they have contingency plans in place but it’s not at the level that tweet suggests.

Might be different in other hospitals though.
I believe my missus, as she’s currently at work in a local hospital, with no agenda other than to look after her patients. Says it’s busy, but they haven’t hit full capacity yet.

She says Hi by the way and hopes the sky hasn’t fallen in on you yet ;)

*ahem*

For all the 'Dr Lockdown' fans chirping about Ferguson asking for early lockdown before cases rose to high, the IMF have released a report asserting that there is probably financial benefit to lockdowns if they are conducted early in the pandemic course because “letting infections grow uncontrolled can also have dire economic consequences”.

@davek I thought this part was particularly relevant to your points

The ridiculous thing is that Johnson at the beginning of the crisis after lockdown used graphs that underlined the way the virus would be approached and best defeated: a series of major lockdowns after periods of reopening the economy. Then the second quarter economic figures came in and the plan was thrown out of the window and it's been an article of faith ever since that full lockdowns = economic death.

Just saying...
Yep. Good call. But you're up against the resident pollyannas who wont entertain the idea that hospitals are struggling right now. I think one of them said they heard down the reconstituted pub-restaurant that his uncle's mate works in the Royal and all talk of cancellations is BS...or words to that effect. :coffee:

We could lock down and support people if they wanted, furlough cost £250 million, bailing out the banks which was universally agreed cost £850 million...

Sweepstake or bets on how long before we are uniformly in tier 3 nationally or a circuit breakers lockdown is imposed?

I'm going two weeks.

I'd probably agree, three at most. A circuit breaker would have to last 2-3 weeks to make it anywhere near feasible it seems, and they'll try their best to avoid it seeping into December. No way Johnson wants to the the PM who screwed up Christmas.

Ha, this is so true. I've a funny feeling any restrictions will be magically loosened as a 'treat' for the kidults of the UK / under pressure from businesses reliant on Xmas, only for another round of restrictions to follow when cases ramp up again in the new year.
