Sweden 10.4 million population, 0.5% to 1% case fatality rate = 52k to 100K ....

No serious restrictions introduced.

Actual deaths 5.9k

UK at the same death rate with no lockdown would have been 39k, actual 43k.

Ferguson sold the country and the economy down the river.....

Sweden had the highest death to population in Europe. The most deaths in the Nordic region.

They admit that if they put restrictions in place they would've saves more lives.

Herd immunity always hinges on killing more people off.

If we are comparing Sweden - compare its deaths to its neighbours with a similar age distribution of population. They had several times more last time I checked.

Also it is wrong to think they didn’t have restrictions - they did and they were strong in places. Secondary schools and universities closed, working from home, bans on large gatherings, social distancing rules etc.

They also have a generous benefit system which did not act as a disincentive to stay off when ill.

Dont know why people are shocked that many dont give a toss about the rules anymore.

The moment you had thousands descend on the streets of London during spring lockdown to jump on the bandwagon of a murder in America with the authorities standing around doing nothing all whilst the majority had gone months without seeing friends and family was always going to disillusion a large amount of people.

The peripheral damage with this virus is far reaching my wife who is on palatial care was taken in yesterday but I am not allowed to see her as she is in the Amber zone which is like the stop before the red zone. She hasn't got covid so I want to get her out of there asap.
I know she hasn't got long could be days but she would rather die at home than on her own in hospital. I need them to give me a list of her medications and show me
How to crush them and put them through her peg. She also feeds through a tube in her stomach from a machine so they will have to show me how to do it.
We have more medication in our house than many small chemists so I just need to sort it out.
Life's [Poor language removed] really isn't it

Yet the numbers don’t line up with Ferguson’s projections....

Firstly, no, not everyone is wearing masks.

Secondly, like I keep pointing out, you do not need a rule to live in a COVID world as safely as possible. You don't need an app to tell you when you should/shouldn't self-isolate either.

There are holes in all systems of life and it is tiresome reading people say that as it's beyond obvious at this point.

And if you're not getting paid by work (if you're not lucky enough to be able to work from home). The advice is to carry on and go into work.

The vast majority of people are wearing masks. You can't go in a pub, cafe, coffee shop, shop or restaurant without one on - at least not the ones where I've been.

Supermarkets are the place where you mostly see people not wearing masks, but even then I very rarely see anyone not wearing one (other than kids).

I have. You're going to need to do better than that. You seem to be under the impression that Sweden introduced 'no serious restrictions' which is misleading for a variety of reasons - and comparing the two countries in the the way you are doing is a nonsense.

Either discuss the merits using actual information and quoting the specific parts you disagree with - even outline what the implications of Swedens approach would be applied to the UK or dont bother at all because all you're doing is spreading misinformation and blame.

Yet I quote numbers, and you don’t . So how can you show how Ferguson was right. I may not understand the clinical science as well as some, but I do understand numbers......
