Of course Liverpool is in trouble when we have 3 universities and Edge Hill just around the corner.

All those students supping n shagging.

Had campus been closed the hospitality industry would have been fine imo.
The university should of done this year online, but they wanted the money, fees, rent on cramped student flats....etc

You do realise that they did a 100,000 person national test for antibodies at the end of June right?

At that point the national estimate for the percentage of the population who’d had the virus was 6%

Last time I checked we had 64 million in this country.

Like I've said before , science isn't guess work. There is a difference between facts and assumptions.

So what's your solution?

We cant afford to consign a generation to poor education and long term unemployment.

What i suggest is difficult but absolutely not fantasy. The right thing is not to lockdown constantly.

We cant just live in this constant state of limbo hoping a vaccine will come. We have no idea if and when it will come.
  • Working test and trace - go back to the drawing board. Give full data access to public health, ability to enforce and accompanying legislation to support it.
  • Stricter enforcement of distance, hand washing and masks.
  • Local authorities and expertise given the opportunity to make localised decisions
  • Greater budget allocation to prevention rather than cure - national assurance should happen
  • Increased funding to primary care to manage community support.
  • Stick to a strategy to enforce public health messaging rather than politicised rhetoric.
As @davek says, money is there, it's just not being didn't spent effectively and unfortunately due to a botched initial response, the Government have played catch-up and when they have bought time, they've squandered it.

Oh and the current working timeframe for vaccine is March-April.

Just a thought but everything just getting shut down in hospitals in liverpool why can't they have one for covi19 royal or aintree, then the other one can treat people with other illnesses. Cancer patients are being left on the scrapheap it's so sad. I know most theatres have been closed for certain operations because of covi19 so sad. Bad planning imo shame on them

Just had to go to aintree hospital and try and see my dad through a window hes very very ill with cancer makes me mad people's about pubs being shut, I like a pint but come on people are suffering with covi19 or other illnesses

Very real possibility that with capacity increase of 20% at hospitals that they will cancel most elective surgery aside from cancer.

A number of trusts across Merseyside running Covid increase of 10-15%

If you applied that logic to anything else then you wouldn't take that at face value.

You don't just guess, you find out, maybe that's the issue right now. Guessing how many had it, how many will get it etc

And it's not just me resisting this notion , the Tories are rebelling, the council's are rebelling.

Science isn't guessing, it's proving. People forget that sometimes

Councils aren't rebelling because decisions are being made without testing 100% of the UK population..

What are you on about.
