Closing schools is a ridiculous policy. Cant believe there are people out there support it. The country has lost the plot.

I am thoroughly fed up
It’s a bit of a curveball as the Chief Scientific Officer had indicated that closing one of pubs or schools would reduce the R number but closing both does seem to be a concerted attempt to flatten the curve.

The school term is completely disrupted as it is though Tim, both mine are already off home learning due to close contacts in their class or school bus. This is being replicated across every school right now.

This feller sees no link between keeping most pubs open via a loophole and restaurants open in town, thereby sucking people into the town centre and behaviour like this...

Anderson effectively provides the basis for this by horse trading over what gets locked down. Shut all pubs and restaurants down and this doesn't happen.

I’m not a big fan of complete lockdowns, but I am a big fan of acting responsibly. This just shows why Liverpool is being locked down. And no it’s not a nasty Tory plot. If the Millenials in the cities cannot be trusted to observe the basics of wearing a mask and keeping a distance then they deserve full closure of pubs and restaurants. Absolute selfish imbeciles....

Who do you think millennials are? You seem to use it as a catch all for any unspecified group of young people.

And I know you're a fan of sweeping generalisation, but let's not paint all young people with the same brush. Not all 'millenials' are the same.

So easy isn’t it.

It was a bunch of daft kids desperate to get on camera and act the big man. No doubt the cameras were there set at 9PM to get the scenes from convert square.

All it takes is that one video and the usual bile starts from people.

Most of the city was dead last night but you’re not going to hear about that are you?

You do know that doesn't matter right? Each one of those kids will go back to where they live and IF they have caught something, which there is a far greater risk with no masks and no social distancing, then that whole household could get it. If they don't follow the rules it goes to another and another until it gets to someone vulnerable.

No one is going to convince kids are better off at home than in school. As I said, the argument baffles me and there is zero evidence I've seen schools are dangerous.

We are ruining our kids chances. It makes me feel almost ashamed.

Kids can get virus, there is no evidence to say they CAN'T spread it to one another, the idea is through other methods you keep it out of the schools in the first place. If you fail to keep the R number down then schools turn into super spreading warehouses. Forget rule of 6 there are 90 odd kids in my daughters year, most of those have 2 parents and/or at least a few siblings, comfortably we can say that's at least 270 people I'm in contact by proxy without even counting grandparents, friends of these families, out of school clubs etc.

It will need a reset at somepoint and seeing it is half term anyway, 1 extra week isn't the biggest deal. This will give the circuit break the best chance of working.

We need schools open, but there has been a definite rise in cases since they re-opened. But it was always going to be the case and the government doing F all to plan for it doesn't help.

Unis is the big issue.

He has not declared an interest Bruce end of .....forget your twaddle he is in line to make millions while having a say on the Government poloicy ........a snout in the trough Bruvpce while the death rate rises ......daily.....as a former local Government officer I had to declare if a sales rep left me a bottle of whisky or any Xmas gift .......
Plus I don't read newspapers Bruce ......it's been reported on the news.....

Haven’t you got some sepia photos of Albert Tatlock playing for Hyde United v Matlock in the 1908 Peak District final that need your attention Joey ?

Can't blame the yoof on what's happened in concert square.

You send them to Uni then say..."Hey, everywhere is shutting tomorrow so you won't be able to go out".

Of course it's gonna happen. It'll happen in Nottingham, Newcastle, Manchester... anywhere they put a lockdown in

It's a lot of students from outside Liverpool too.

The point though is that if we had CLEAR MESSAGING AND RULES on what's out there in town centres for people then you wouldn't get this. Anderson and Rotheram have contributed to this mess with their nobhead insistence on not locking down a city that's out of control with infection.

I get that but when you let thousands of young people descend upon towns and cities then tell them that could be their last night out for six months scenes like last night are inevitable.

No defending them but we were all young and dumb once.

Another defender of the elite then ........

Defender of the elite Mmmm, its you and your kin gave them the keys...

He is Brexit's Government lead scientific adviser, go figure, think it was Roydo yesterday on a similar vein, mentioned, oh the irony...

His shares will be a pay off or part pension from one of his previous positions, not a problem, the taxing of these assets are though...

Exactly the elite are spreading the virus far more when's the last time we had an update of air travel, or the Channel tunnel travel?
I can guess the virus is being spread far worse than the new rules they cooked up .......Remember the advice the scientist stated the young would never get this virus ........
