I'm glad you're enjoying it mate.

Everyone of you need to put the politics to one side for the moment. Our fight against this disease is in danger of disintegrating before our eyes just as we are about to start opening up the economy again. It's highly probable that lives, jobs and livelihoods will be lost because of this.
Put politics to one side lol

This shambles is what you voted for ..... honestly you have some balls telling people to put politics to one side

@peteblue what do you think? lol

I think it will be forgotten by next weekend. Unless Cummings has told a fib, there is no issue. Very early on the Deputy CMO was asked a similar question, and her reply all those weeks ago Vindicates Cummings. For me this is a non issue when just seven days from now Schools are supposed to open......

I think he needs him to deliver Brexit. It's one thing delivering lines in a film, it's an entirely different thing writing and directing it.

In many ways dealing with CV is easier than Brexit. The Tories have made huge promises with regards to Brexit that they have to live up to, and Britain is the only country on that path. By contrast, the coronavirus is a global thing, and the country has had many others to learn from when crafting a response that I think the public are willing to give a great deal of grace over, just so long as they appear to be doing their best.

Yes but I reckon the Cabinet members have been deeply cynical here. As per my post above - political capital. Back Dom here and the sword of Damocles is removed, he's got no hold over you any more.

The question, for me at least, is what bloody hold should he have anyway? What on earth has the bloke done in his life to be viewed in the way he appears to be?

I will be honest, and I dont really care, but the details around what he did or didnt do dont interest me.

Its the weasel way it has been explained away that makes me fume. Whilst the entire country has followed the headline advice, pretty much in a compliant and often cheerful way.

Brits are generally decent folk, but we hate being taken for a ride.
I think cummings is a very dangerous man and I want him away from any power. That being said I wouldn't actually want someones career ended for an indiscretion such as this, same as I didn't want heavy handed policing of the lock down. But given how gleefully the tories threw two dedicated scientists under the bus and will protect this weasel at all costs, honestly I don't know how anyone could see past that

I'm going to put my hand in this fire, because I just saw someone else do it.

Imagine how ridiculous that sounds.

No you are missing the point again.

That would be put your hand in the fire whilst the people telling you to do it aren't doing it.

You are confusing follow by example with doing the opposite of the advice given. Literally everyone who told you to stay at home hasn't done so themselves.

So in a theoretical fashion, it means the stay at home advice had no basis if the ones who decided we had to do that ignored it.

Then its ok for you. But for those who have made tragic family sacrifices it's never gonna be ok. He broke his own lockdown rules and came up with a p poor excuse.

What does he gain from doing so though? It's hard to imagine the public would lose any more sleep about a SPAD being sacked than they would Ferguson being ousted. Indeed, he'd probably gain in the polls by getting rid of someone disposable to show that his government are on the side of the people. Instead, he's sacrificed his standing in the polls for a SPAD. The question is, why?

Talent.

Whether by coincidence or design, Cummings has two big voting wins under his belt. He was also in and around the anti-UK joining the EURO and Johnson's Mayor bid iirc. Johnson is in charge of a cabinet amazingly low on talent, a deeply demoralised Civil Service, and is one month out from a key UK:EU negotiation milestone. He has nightmares about Cummings leaving him high and dry.

There would have been a reshuffle to end all reshuffles in October. A lot of it under the guise of the Cabinet being "exhausted" post-C19. And Dom C would have been leading the charge.

Not a chance mate. Not when a mild mannered janitor like me is fuming, thats what they have done.

@Bruce Wayne knows the political company my Dad kept a few decades ago, and my Dad is incandescent this evening.

Millions will lose their jobs, and he’s defending this guy driving 250 miles to be near his parents. Absurd.

No, millions are losing their jobs but everyone and his dog wants to talk about an Advisor who went into isolation in a separate house next to his parents.......

That lack of talent in the cabinet is largely of his own making though. He was the one that ousted experienced heads from his party. He was the one who gave all of those numpties their jobs. It just seems staggering that he would do that under the belief that Cummings is the man that would solve everything for him. That's staggering.
