Do you have a link ?

I find that extremely hard to believe.

I have seen “anonymous government source” quoted as saying that.
Much like most of his wild claims, they tend to fall apart when evidence is asked for.

It looks more like the government are trying to put the onus back on to companies to actually use staff. It’s places like McDonalds that have furloughed staff when they could actually be working or be supported by the company itself that are the issue.

In that case the deaths in this country has been caused by the Tories. Not like you'll be bothered though eh.

I care about the deaths, more than a lot of supposed 'socialists' in here, who only care about themselves despite claiming to be socialist.

It's mostly the hard labour voters in here who are refusing to download the app which will help save lives. Go figure.

For the record, I voted Labour in the last election as I'm pro Europe, despite thinking Corbyn was useless and had rubbish policies.

Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't make them a Tory.

I'm quite central in my views and don't agree with fanboying either party because both of them get stuff wrong.

The amount of fanboying of Labour in here though is a bit over the top.

I do worry sometimes about people’s seeming refusal or inability to accept personal responsibility.

If you cannot work from home and you cannot avoid public transport then you can use public transport. Alternatively you can have discussions with your employer who will in 99% of cases be happy to work with you to find a solution, most likely remaining on furlough. There will of course be difficult cases for individuals but the narrative being spun by some on here and Twitter is that last nights message has plunged society into death and destruction.

Some people are slating the loosening of social distancing as being confusing. Personally I feel you just need to use common sense and take responsibility for your actions.

Go to the garden centre if you have to. Don’t go with anybody else unless you have to. Meet a friend in the park if you have to.

The government cannot answer every individual query or create a perfect set of guidelines for every single scenario that answers every question. It is impossible.

That is not to say that Boris isn’t a scumbag and the Government haven’t made countless errors throughout this process. I just don’t think allowing people to go back to work using their judgement and allowing Sue to buy some compost from Dobbie’s is the end of the world.

Nobody is saying that people should be poorer. The argument for UBI as a disincentive for work has been made time and time again.

The fact that we have the second worst deathtoll in the world should be enough for anyone to realise that the government has massively mismanaged the crisis.
But you forget free will.

Noone is telling you to go the park, people can and will stay at home as much as they can for the foreseeable . How many parents won't send their kids back to school next month?

Yes some people will use it as an excuse , but then people have been doing that anyway during the lockdown. So what's the difference there?

The ones who aren't arsed are only putting themselves at risk. I think the point is being missed that you don't need the government to babysit you , people can make their own minds up.

As for the death rate, not only is that dropping but it's questionable why it is that high to begin with . But another topic I have said my bit on.

I’m sure all will be revealed today In Parliament.....
Should never have been announced at 7PM on a Sunday night. Utterly shambolic decision. Apparently public transport in and around London was rammed this morning. You can bet that the same thing happened in all major cities in England.

They should have got the detail defined and released to the public and employers a week in advance, not 12 hours and in such a wooly, confusing manner.

I hate everything about the government, but if they don't tell me exactly what to do, I'll scream blue murder.

The teaching unions need to get their act together and demand proper safe PPE, masks and social distancing measures before they should consider opening schools up even to the children and particularly the youngest.

Video all parents need to see: terrifying French study shows what awaits UK if Johnson proceeds with school opening plan

"38% of the school’s pupils had become infected – and among school staff, 43% of teachers and 60% of non-teaching staff caught the disease.

And across the school and the households of the school students tested, an average of 40% were infected.

As Drosten concludes, with those kinds of numbers “you cannot open schools”.

The French study is not the only frightening one. A Geneva study of 23 infected children aged 7 months to 15 years showed that 50% of them – including 3 cases of babies less than 3 months old – had high concentration of infectious material when swabbed.

Given that younger children are less able to socially distance, it would be even more dangerous to open nurseries and primary schools than schools for older school students. Other studies indicate similar results".

Schools will become a dangerous and unsafe place to work.

How did all this happen considering France immediately went into lockdown ? This is malicious propaganda ......

Wild claims? Like what?

He was quoted as saying it, I didn’t see him say the actual words, but let’s see how this plays out. Maybe I got it wrong, but I wouldn’t put it past a Tory minister to use those words.
