Hopefully the trade unions and in particular the transport unions and the teaching unions will step in and undermine Johnson's/Cummings/Vallance/Whitty's attempt to get back on track and ramp up the herd immunity experiment, slowed down by the intervention of Neil Ferguson's 'predictions'. Ferguson has been the first fall guy for this governments experiment.

The government needed a scapegoat and they've orchestrated Ferguson's downfall with the Telegraph. But how did thye Telegraph knew that his girlfriend had visited him on the 30th. March and the 6th April? This information would have come from a number of sources. The husband, the wife or Ferguson. It could have come from journalists following the wife - which would be illegal under non essential travel and they would be liable for a fine and their right to be allowed to work outside of their home taken away. It could have come from the journalist phone hacking the telephones of the three parties - a scandal in itself after what had gone on before with phone hacking. Information could have come from the police or MI5 - which would raise questions as to why they were tracking the wife and Ferguson. All in all, it's been a coordinated campaign to get rid of someone who went against the group and stepped out of line.

The lifting of even this weak lockdown measures will see more and more deaths. A disgraceful state of affairs by Johnson and the 'experts'.

For everyone complaining about people being told to go back to work, what if people actually want to go back? Carry on earning money because they lost most/all their earnings since this started? From someone who has been on work since the lockdown started , if correct measures are in place then there is no more risk than just sitting at home.

Everyone has been following government advice for 7 weeks, why is it now they can't be trusted? Johnson told everyone to stay at home and we did, so why now he has eased it a little based on statistics is the advice wrong? After all, the virus will still be a threat 3 months from now

After all, you can still stay at home. There is nothing stopping you not going out still. If you continue to follow that advice then you are on no more threat than you were before Boris spoke last night.

All the data is retrospective anyhow. How the numbers you keep reading are always in the past. The infection rate is in the past , people aren't developing the virus the morning of the test and deaths can he registered 2 months from the day they are in that daily statistics.

What if the government is right in doing this? And the data has lower than you think it is?

Nobody is saying that people should be poorer. The argument for UBI as a disincentive for work has been made time and time again.

The fact that we have the second worst deathtoll in the world should be enough for anyone to realise that the government has massively mismanaged the crisis.

What is this post

you’re acting like he wasn’t clear , I think you probably need to watch it again. I think it’s universally agreed the message was obvious .

As Johnson would usually like to drop in some Latin . We need to see Acta non verba
I think people need to have a tiny bit of patience before kicking off. If the detail still isn't there after today's Commons debate well fair enough.

An absolute gift is Johnson, one little address to the nation and he has enacted a class war, thrown a comfort blanket to middle classes, work from the safety of your home... Hand on manufacturing and construction workers off you go to work, we will publish the advice at a later date. The false profit has come of age. Listening to the travel news, congestion everywhere in urban England...

As with everything these days, it seems you can only have an extreme opinion on the internet.

People either think the lockdown was ridiculous and an assault of human freedom. Or people think we should be on lockdown for the rest of the year or until there's a vaccine.

My opinion is we needed the rules and they maybe came too late. But it's now been 7 weeks and I think we need to start planning to gradually lift the rules. An economic catastrophe is looking almost inevitable and people will suffer that way too. Theres no easy answers, but we cant stay like this forever.

I think it’S blatant and disgusting.

In which case he should have released the document with the statement. Raab has just been on the BBC and been all over the show , effectively giving his interpretation which seems at odds with what the considered view was . Raab is already backtracking and clarifying after his earlier appearance and this bloke will have helped draw it up and even he’s not sure . The reason ? Because it’s not clear .

A SAGE scientist was in Radio 5 and frankly a lot easier a listen , the problem is the genie is now out the bottle . They needed to have a coordinated release of this when even if we disagreed we could see what they were trying to say . Now we’ve got a situation where do you honestly believe the majority of the population are going to go through the details of a 50 page document and a commons address ?

I think it’s an incredibly difficult situation to navigate but , and I appreciate I’m repeating myself , at times Of high pressure then clarity and clarity of instruction is everyone’s friend . Put simply this isn’t happening and I’m not sure how that situation is resolved .

The full document of the plans should have been released prior to the announcement tonight.
Maybe but Parliament has already been kicking for.being left out. Given the lack of patience everyone's showing it would have.been better had he just made the announcement today and did away with last night altogether
