I was thinking about playtime. When I have ever visited schools at that time, it's like organised chaos with children weaving in and out of each other.

"Sorry Little Johnny... you now need to play outside but you have to stay 2 metres apart!" With a confused face, "Miss, what's a metre?"

On another topic, my wife works for a school and apparently (word of mouth) there's been children trying to come today as the parents have gone back to work.

Unless the definition of a key worker has changed, my wife suspects there'll be some aggravation caused because of this as they're turning them away.

Sounds like the start of a dirty joke

All I'm saying is don't go overboard before seeing the detail. It's been like Monty Python on here since last night. It's not even an 18 hour wait and most of us would have. been asleep for half of that ffs.

If it turns out the detail isn't there well fair enough as I said. Dominic Raab is one of the cleverer cabinet ministers and if he was struggling it doesn't auger well.

And yes I believe everybody should take the time to look over the document themselves, that's if they're arsed about getting a truer picture. Many won't be which is the problem. They would rather get the version which supports their own preconceived opinion so will just read whatever journal which does exactly that

Raab being “one of the cleverer Cabinet ministers” is a more savage criticism of the government than anything @davek has come out with tbh

Wonder if that fine orator johnson will be doing the press statement tonightso he can clarify the exact circumstance for the public and answer questions? Or will he send someone else in to bat as he hides?

I also suspect that, without actually reading them may I add, we'll have different parts of the media adding their own slant on things - Daily Mail for example.

Someone mentioned it yesterday (I think) about a clear video, like a plane's emergency procedures, with clear dos and don'ts: this is allowed; this isn't.

I was watching the BBC News at 10 last night and they talked about being able to meet up in groups of two with other households as long as you socially distance.

Well, when did it say that? Who gave that specific guidance?

To be fair, central London is incredibly quiet at the moment. The only people we saw around Piccadilly, Leicester Square, Covent Garden etc. today were homeless folk. Not scientific at all, but many gave the impression that they were newly homeless (clean clothes, yet wearing far more than was necessary for the weather with several bags on them).

Incidentally, there was a plan to pedestrianise Oxford Street a while back, that was popular with locals, but got squashed by Westminster Council.
I assume you were house hunting lol

There is no way you can’t consider that address woolly it makes no sense to me not to have released the document simultaneously.

I’m not a raab fan but of the ministers he’s seemed more capable and he’s been all over the show this morning so as you say it’s a worry . I’ll do my best to read it , I’ve just watched his interview then contrasted it by listening to his today one . I’m anxious to find out where we are , I assume you’re the same but let’s not kid ourselves because many just aren’t and that address was the PM’s chance to speak to the nation and even many of his supporters agreed it was a muddle .

The contradictions are already flying and even if the report comprehensive and fulsome in content it’ll have a job to do to steady the ship . As I say I listened to a SAGE scientist and she was articulate and relatively clear so if the PM had given us a little more of that we’d have probably been in a much better place already .

Not just the air either. You can actually see the bottom of the lakes, and birds are nesting in all sorts of funky places. It's been super for the environment.

I'm not bothered what Boris has said this evening because if people actually decide to drive to the Lake District or whatnot they're a tit - a giant, narcissistic tit.
Maybe they are mate. But if they socially isolate in doing so, they are less at risk of spreading the virus than the millions of people who break social distancing rules daily by visiting family, friends and loved ones and those parents who allow their teenage children to congregate in groups. It's happening all over the place. They are the real problem here.

I don't think that many actual people will travel long distances because they have nowhere to stay.

That has been dolphins, a seel and what looked like a platypus in the River Mersey over the past few weeks. Lots more wild flowers around too!

From my house to Ambleside, you can do it in less than two hours. Snowdonia is an hour and a bit, with Moel Famu easily reachable within an hour.

They're not particularly long-distances if you have a car or motorbike, so they're easily reachable; whatever Boris says, I still see it as pretty darn needless.

Nevertheless, I do agree that the real problem is people meeting up and socialising, which is happening more and more often - it has been for the past two weeks.

However, if you combine the two together then the added risk of the r0 rate reaching and going above the infamous 1 is increasing a lot.

All this makes you realise just how close we naturally get to one another - was chatting to a bloke today in the park about the footie whilst walking the dog and had to keep reminding myself to keep so much distance - bloody hard to do as its so unnatural
I have had to pull my missus up a few times when she meets friends when we are out walking ,for the same thing

Schools here have been open for the last 4 weeks to allow daycare for children of people still at work. No teachers, but the teaching assistants/supervisors like my girlfriend are there in masks. The head teacher told her not to even bother trying to keep a bunch of 6 year olds apart. Just keep washing your hands and wear a mask.
