People being people and greed being greed any western government will find it hard to enforce restrictions on numbers
Try telling a pub in any major city centre only 25/50/75/100 people allowed in Sat night
Its just not workable
I know things will have to get back to normal ,but I think it will be a new normal that we will have to acclimatise to for the foreseeable future

I`ve got no idea what they`re going to do with pubs, as my local is a beer only Punch Taverns (spits ) owned pub and the licensee is still having to pay rent to them for a pub that`s shut whilst he waits for the government money to come through.

I can see food led pubs being allowed to open first, with the bar being shut and just the eating area open .

It will be life Jim but not as we know it
People are just going to have to learn to accept this

I go to the doctor once every 3 months
He checks .heart ,blood pressure, and breathing
Then writes a script
Surely an app can do the first bit, send him the results and then he emails a script to the chemist
You can buy blood presure monitors etc fairly cheap for home use

We are doing phone visits and in some cases Skype or WebEx for routine follow up like this.
Some patients you still need to see and lay hands on.

I hope not. Either a pub is open or it’s not. There is a very large brewing industry that needs to get working again. Food led pubs use the food element to help sell beer and wine, and the wet part of sales is crucial. Even out and out restaurants require the wet element. Pubs such as ours which are purely wet should not be differentiated against just because their ‘food’ happens to come in a glass or bottle.....

I`m chomping at the bit to get back in the pub Pete, but for the life of me I can`t see how they`re going to allow the wet pubs to open until there`s a vacine.

My local is tiny, fifty people in there and it`s properly packed.

At least 60% of the customers are over 60, so slap bang in the high risk group.

What do they do, ban the over 60`s and people in the high risk groups - obese, diabetic etc ?

They`d have about six customers !!

I think to maintain social distancing though it will need to be seating only and table service

How they got to their numbers is anyone's guess as nothing is published on their website

He used an estimate of one care home COVID death per three hospital deaths, so 12k in hospital => 4k in care homes.

The estimate's based on figures which have come out of Italy and France. Realistically, the ratio could probably be anywhere between .1 and .5 , so .33 seems sensible.

Amazon hiring 75k more people to cope with online order demand during the lockdown.

Wow.

@roydo
Retired
Plus I am not sure, but I think Amazon have a policy of their drivers actually delivering their parcels
Roydo preferred method of chucking it over the fence and if you don't hear a splash ,then all is good, would cut it with Amazon lol

It’s no different to all the over 60’s gathering in a cafe or going for a meal in a restaurant. Most 60 year olds in a pub, sit at a table anyway with the odd one or two sat by the bar. There will be mayhem if they do this.....

Unfortunately this virus has severely compromised personal freedom. I would normally suggest that people should use common sense and not go to the pub if they are vulnerable or concerned about their close family. However, given how infectious this thing is, is that a sensible position for the authorities to take?
