That's it. Live an unhealthy lifestyle, then complain that the NHS can't cope with all the unhealthy people. 79,000 smoking related deaths per year in England. Nearly 25% of adults classed as obese (not overweight - obese). Easy to blame the tories rather than fatty in the mirror.
My misses has terminal cancer and for the last three years only feeds through a tube in her stomach if she catches this virus it will kill her , if she does catch it I will be sure to tell her its her own fault.

Preaching from your monastery brother Bruce ?
So you don't drink, smoke, do drugs and just eat lettuce.

We are tip-toeing our way out of it in NZ. Just 17 new cases in 24 hours but 68 more recovered. The number of new cases every day is dropping and expected to soon be into single figures. Roughly half our identified cases have recovered. Big thing is our community transmission is low. We have a good chance of eliminating it. But not without cost.

4 lives lost today takes us to a total of 9. There will be more but hopefully only a handful. Virtually all are elderly people in aged care rest homes. It's a scary time for others who are residents there.

On that point, looking at UK figures, to only include deaths in hospitals makes me think the figures there are much, much worse.

Thoughts are with you all, especially those who have family or friends affected.

Any figures given at the moment are best case scenario.

They say 11,572 deaths, thats 11,572 which they can directly claim is COVID-19, and thats just in the official hospital figures. It's best case, the reality is both figures are going to be significantly higher.

I don't think people are taking it seriously here, I believe over in your ways, the fines are a lot more severe, and your figures are a lot lower. Here, whilst 70% people are taking it seriously 30% are just taking it like a big summer holiday, and that's why figures will continue to rise. Let the lockdown continue until it absolutely has to for me.

The media keeps selling us this "Spain is coming out of Lockdown, we're next", but it's to boost morale, and literally nothing more. I hope, for everyones safety, we're at least in lockdown until end of May at latest.

I was having a chat with some mates from USA this morning. They said exactly the same about 30% taking the michael.

I dont think its enforcement that's made a difference here. On the whole it's a very liberal, forgiving country but people definitely bought into the necessity of lockdown.

It's a combination of things, the main one being lack of community transmission has meant almost all cases are in identifiable clusters, such as a small wedding just before lockdown. The lockdown was only just in time so all those involved were in isolation pretty soon after and only continued to affect those in their "bubble".

And what you said about Spain coming out of lockdown. I have seen those comments. Its like the country is within touching distance of utopia. The community transmission is so high that I cant help but think there will be second waves, and maybe more. And there has to be some heavy restrictions in place too.

We will come out of our heavy lockdown next week. Details havent been released yet but there will still be heavy restrictions. Our borders will remain shut to all except residents and even those returning will be heavily quarantined. Economically theres suggestions of 26% unemploymen although realistically it will be around 10%. We dont know. So much depends on the rest of the World economy so ffs get well soon!

Personally, i'd question the viability of ending any lockdowns. They are no closer to combating it here in the UK, as far as i'm concerned, if they lifted anything right now, we'll probably undo any of the good they've done so far. According to a few sites Spain has had 87000 confirmed cases in the last fortnight, we've had 67000, so i think it's a media spin to make people feel a little better.

If they go "We're in this until August", i think it will create a lot more panic. My opinion obviously, but i feel people are slowly adjusting to lockdown, the shops aren't as frantic, people are just more civil. I feel this method is best.

I think what both yourself and Australia have is that you're basically isolated as it is, so the fact both your governments have taken excellent precautions just shows that it cant be taken lightly!
