I originally thought it would be august until pubs opened but I think it will be sooner.

Sanitizer station as you walk in, staff wear masks and pub owners make sure cleaning is done often.

Life has to go on

This is the crux of it really isnt it?

I mean you can destroy the economy, deny children their education & have millions out of work and potentially homeless to try prevent more people catching the virus than if things were closed but for me you are doing more damage in the medium to long term as people are still getting infected even in lockdown.

At some point life has to carry on as this thing just isnt going to dissapear over night - and China can GTF with this "we only have 108 infected and they are all from oversea's - they will still have thousands if not hundreds of thousands with this thing.

Lockdown is only useful in slowing down the initial outbreak- from then on we have to rely on the current underwhelming Government to get upto speed & be doing the testing to ensure people know who has had it and who can then make their free will choice on to risk if they go out or not depending on if they have had it until hopefully a vaccine is found.

I assume this is Cadbury ? Years ago I used to meet up with Adrian Cadbury when he was advising a small group of us on Corporate Governance...I think he’s dead now though .....
Yes but since the Yanks took over its all gone to pot
I will give the Cadbury family their due ,they really looked after their workers .
Pensions ,housing ,healthcare etc.
Comes from their Quaker roots .
Sadly all gone from the business now in any real sense

I think all pubs will reopen if allowed in May. The big brewers have been excellent in handling the situation, keg and cask replacement schemes, advice on grants, furlough etc etc. I can’t comment on rent because we own our building, but I fully expect (unless the landlord was crap anyway) that they will be supporting their pubs through this. They really have been very good.....

Think there are some horror stories but I do think most have been incredibly fair minded and that includes building landlords.

Most manufacturing companies aren't able to socially distance people, are they going to stay shut too? No chance. Pubs will open, and people will have to practice hygiene better.

We can't hide away until a vaccine is found.

There is a big difference in high risk behaviors between these two.

If you can't social distance, masks, not touching your face, etc becomes even more important. That would be manageable in a factory setting. Everyone wears masks in the building.

You can't wear a mask while eating or drinking. Plus a lot of added potential for hands/fingers to face/mouth.

No company will enforce social distancing, simply not an option. Our factory is an old Victorian mill. One entrance in and out. People are not living in reality if they think companies will enforce masks etc.

so canteens will do the same I’m presuming ? In a lot of cases They aren’t even practicing social distancing now in the midst of a lockdown , so to imagine building sites or warehouses are going to do it seems fanciful to be honest .

My missus reckons she spends a minimum of
Blow drys 100 euro a month
Colour 70 euro a month
Hair cut 85 euro (every 5 weeks )
Nails 55 euro
Facial (no giggles please ) 65 euro
Massage 60 euro
And she complains I go for 5- 6 pints on a weds night on my own
She will be worth a fortune by the time this lockdown is over lol
Our post office book has not looked this healthy in a long time
Shocked that anyone can spend that much on themselves. Next time I treat myself, I’ll show my husband this ;)

It can be done.
My friend's husband manages a large appliance manufacturing plant.
People wear masks since if they don't wear masks, they don't get to work. Masks are provided.
Surfaces are disinfected frequently (they've actually temp hired folks specifically to do this), but it is required during all breaks and a deeper clean between shifts.

It is at least infinitely more feasible to implement for everyone in a factory than a pub.

Based on the astronomical level of inflammation in his body and reports written by Chinese and Italian physicians who had treated the sickest COVID-19 patients, the doctors came to believe that it was not the disease itself killing him but his own immune system. It had gone haywire and began to attack itself — a syndrome known as a “cytokine storm.”

The immune system normally uses proteins called cytokines as weapons in fighting a disease. For unknown reasons in some COVID-19 patients, the immune system first fails to respond quickly enough and then floods the body with cytokines, destroying blood vessels and filling the lungs with fluid.

The doctors tried a drug called Actemra, which was designed to treat rheumatoid arthritis but also approved in 2017 to treat cytokine storms in cancer patients.

Also one could be drafted into company policy whereas the other is entirely dependent on people voluntarily wearing them - presumably between drinks?
