Firmly agree with the OP, and this result has to be the turning point. It's going to be a rotten one to get over, it's certainly one of the worst Derby results I've ever seen, and it we just need it to be the catalyst for change at this club now.

A lot of players need to go, but we have a manager that can definitely progress us forwards. At the end of the day, we had enough opportunities to win that game twice in the first half but those chances fell to players without quality and/or confidence. If Carlo has the chance to work with higher calibre of players at Everton, then we will see results.

Needs to add six by the start of next season to start heading in the right direction; the whole team transformed by end of the summer after.
With the kind of money you'd need to spend on the players of the quality we need, I'm not sure getting 6 in by the summer is realistic. We need £50/60/70m players. That's £300-400m.
Sure we can offload a few to going down the nett spend but the players we want out of the club aren't worth any more than £20m each.
I think Carlo needs 4 transfer windows to get his team together.

Need to persuade players to sign that have actually won things recently & played a key part in bringing and sustaining that success. Like a few have already said, just 2 or 3 initially will make a huge difference immediately to the mentality here. The manager will be key to attracting them & they'll only come at a premium but better to target resources to them rather than a bigger number of technically good players who lack the necessary fortitude. Let's see what this window brings.

No. Ancelotti wont be paying that out for the players he'll be signing. Eight players for £90M he signed for Napoli. Obvioulsy there'll be a PL premium but it wont run into £300m-£400m for 6 players.

What we do know and I'm certain Ancelotti noticed it too. Is that certain players out there hid. Not just hibernated, they literally ran from their responsibility. Abandoned their posts. That kind of cowardice is toxic and can spread.

In his post match comments, he mentioned he'd be speaking to the players. Which he clearly stated, he rarely or never does. You can't have a team or even hope to build a team, when under the first sign of pressure, players rout.

If it means they have to train alone, ship them out, pay them out, whatever it takes. An example needs to made out of them. That should have been done a long time ago. And there is no doubt in my mind, that the replacements that come in will be Ancelotti signings.

Exactly. Rumors are the financial reports due out soon are bad so somethings got to give with the spending. This season is over now and we wont go down with him in charge so I'd prefer he assessed what he has and spent what he gets in the summer when market is bigger.

We need to buy now not just summer

January never been a great market, though.

Said for a while I didn't think the club would go mad and spend the sort of money they have done in previous windows, especially with the stadium upcoming.

Digne, Richarlison, Gomes, Bernie, Mina, with Kean, Lossl and Gbamin still to leave their mark.

I get that people are angry after today, but I dont buy into the "whole squad is rubbish" mantra myself.

It needs work for sure.
Digne was good first season but been terrible this.
Richarlison is a flat track bully who flatters to deceive , arguably Silva's signing but regardless can hardly be called a hit
Gomes' performances were up and down and very rarely took a game by the scruff of its neck
Bernard is either injured or not trusted
Mina is an accident waiting to happen , can't move and can't pass and only gets in the team becuase Keane is actually worse and the great Marcel didn't replace Zouma
Kean is nowhere near ready to play in the Premier league
Lossl - are you really hanging your hat on him as a good signing?
Gbamin looked awful before he got injured but hey let's say the jury is out.

So no I have no confidence in Brands getting the recruitment right - let us all hope that Carlo simply bypasses him.

Agree with this also Dave, twice in one day. We need to go and scout the next up and coming top quality players whether that be from the championship or lower leagues abroad in Europe or South America etc.

It's now at the stage where I cringe when we sign a player for over £15M-£20M. It's almost a sure sign we've been mugged.

The last 3 years will go down in infamy for this club.

It was another loss to a decent bunch of Liverpool players with a pretty untalented Everton team.

This is what happens with the Everton team erected in the last 3 seasons or so with too much cash. This is the Zombie Everton lingering on.

Let's hand Carlo the tools to transform us and get these players out and his own better quality players in.

I dont even consider this ground zero. That happened weeks ago at Anfield with that 5-2 mauling. Decisions were taken then which ended up with us having a genius manager in our dugout. As long as he's backed, he'll get us our position and status back in a couple of seasons.

Five or six of Ancelotti type players in to add to a small handful of the current lot and we'll be a different proposition next season. It's going to get better. Much, much better.
I completely agree with you Dave K!

We will make a few signings,But more summer Carlo hasn’t come mate without backing

He’s getting a very big pay day mate. Don’t think he won’t get backing, we’ll spend but I don’t think we’ll outspend the top six as we have done recently - especially with the stadium upcoming.

Carlo will back himself to improve the existing squad and find decent value in the market without spending the earth.
