And to declare them "not the future" without actually giving them a chance at this level is equally foolhardy.

.... which I haven't done.

Lots of utterly mad shouts here today. Unless you are advocating "Unsy" (vomit) and a full youth team revolution for the senior squad, you're an insurrectionist, rather than someone who wants to not get carried away with the futile efforts in a cup exit.

I should see if our man @ianefc wants to join

I saw it mentioned on the previous page of this thread. I've saw it mentioned by numerous people on here and twitter for the past 18 months. Golden generations produce world class players. We produce lots of decent players but there's never any game changers.

Listen if we're not going to challenge for the top four - which we aren't at this point - wouldn't you rather let our Golden Generation (Beni, Kenny, Davies, Dowell, Walsh, Williams etc) come into the team and actually create a foundation for a strong future with rock solid (and talented) Blues? Rather than bringing in continental or "seasoned" players who don't actually help us win stuff and potentially block the path for the ones we've already got? Yes we should be going for as good a striker as we can buy because we don't have of those laying around FF, but for chrissake, we're loaded with talented midfielders already. And yes, we need a left footed defender who ideally can play centrally or at LB for the time being, but if we buy one more damned midfielder I'm going to scream.

I'm not saying they all end up as England internationals but some of them will I believe, and at worst they become reliable, dedicated, and serviceable squad players. What is the actual point of having player that costs a fortune and almost never play?

Beni proved a larger point last night I believe.

Spot on.
We have the brightest young talent in this league, such generation of players are consider once in a lifetime occurance at any club. Remember man utd under ferguson? It didn't happen again for them no matter how hard they tried to build their academy

We are in such a fortunate position that many other club look at us with envy and yet our former manager restrict their playing time. Such a waste if we just sideline them and keep stacking our first eleven with less suitable signings.

Play the kids, the only signing we should make is someone special, cantonaresque special. Not someone who only knows how to kick a dead ball.

Davies
Barkley
Onyekuro
Benin
Lookman
DCL
Kenny
Pickford
Vlasic

They should be the focal point of our team building. We won't get relegated, let this season be a potential development season. Let each and everyone of them play 20 odd games. If Ajax can reach the Uefa final with kids, why can't we develop our own success with kids.

But seriously, I am advocating Unsy, and the introduction of all those players, although I'm not suggesting we just put out the 2015 U23's every week.

This squad needs revamping. The Koeman experiment failed utterly. And Ross needs to be brought back in from the cold too.

At senior level which of these players are successful? DCL 0 League goals. JJK extremely inconsistent and a non entity in attack. Tom Davies struggling in his second season. Holgate utterly appalling in how he has developed. Dowell can't get a regular start in a poor Forest side.

It's mad to suggest these players are gonna win us stuff. They'd do well to survive in the PL. They are decent players. Some will do very well but some won't even make it. We need signings of quality players in the right positions. Golden generation? Just no...

The United comparison isn't actually true. You've got loads of them like Rossi, Pogba, pique (?) , Lingard, Morrison, all of whom came up at a reasonably similar juncture and had senior careers - many at the highest level

We agree on Ross for sure. Key player.

I completely agree, but I've had people tell me that we should only have International players in our squad, not just the team the squad. Which to me is patently ridiculous when the likes of Southgate are picking the squad.
True. But I don’t think it makes a difference who manages England. In their entire history England have won 1 World Cup. Hardly ranks them as one of the great footballing nations. The nation just doesn’t produce enough winners, to seriously trouble the elite. Maybe they should just recruit from Merseyside, or better still we should declare independence and enter international competition to ourselves.

You've got the wrong generation mate.
I'm talking about Giggs, sharp, Keane, Scholes, Beckham, solsjaer.

He can hardly be said to have proven any points after one game.

Kenny was excellent at home to Norwich last season but has looked woefully short since.

Calvert - Lewin, don't get me started

After a very bright start Dowell has been in and out of form for Forest

Walsh and Williams, who knows really.

No points have been proven - yet.

Don't think Kenny has looked woefully short of anything when played, he looked any worse than lots of experienced full internationals in them games? Chelsea had the most joy yesterday actually going down Baines side as well, .and Arsenal game he was up against bloody Sanchez

DCL - good when played as a striker at lots of parts of the game, just sadly the most important one is lacking atm - his finishing, shouldn't be starting for us, but it's clear he has ability, as a winger - yeah he is absolutely gash

Dowell - dunno the forest fans seem to like him so far

Walsh and Williams - who knows - both rated internally at the club though

Good God man the oldest of them is like 20. And I disagree with all of your assessments but that's no biggie, we can all watch the same games and come to different conclusions.

The one I'm most confident in coming good is Davies. The rest I'm hopeful but unsure. Except Holgate who is a woeful defender out of his depth at Everton.

Let me also say this. We don't know if they will win stuff, but we haven't won anything in 23 years doing it the other way so....

Not English but I'll support the Merseyside Independence Movement from abroad.

We had no money. We had defeatist managers. And we still have an ultra defeatist chairman. The whole club needs to change. Throwing a bunch of kids in isn't gonna make all our problems vanish.
