Why?
United are already sniffing around him.
Why?
Why did koeman spend all that money on midfielders when there are players of that quality in U23 side.?
And bring back the lad from Anderlecht.
I'm hoping they're also going to have serious competition from Walshy, and possibly this new lad Adeniran who I haven't had the opportunity to watch yet.He and Davies will form the heart of our midfield for a decade. Mark it down.

McNulty spot on.
He did alright and put in one good tackle.
We are still crap.

With the likes of Vlasic, Lookman, Dowell and, fingers crossed, Barkley ahead of them, we have a lot to look forward to from our midfield youngsters.![]()
Baby steps friend lol. I'm encouraged by what I saw, but we need to win the next game or it doesn't matter and we will look silly.McNulty spot on.

Listen if we're not going to challenge for the top four - which we aren't at this point - wouldn't you rather let our Golden Generation (Beni, Kenny, Davies, Dowell, Walsh, Williams etc) come into the team and actually create a foundation for a strong future with rock solid (and talented) Blues? Rather than bringing in continental or "seasoned" players who don't actually help us win stuff and potentially block the path for the ones we've already got? Yes we should be going for as good a striker as we can buy because we don't have of those laying around FF, but for chrissake, we're loaded with talented midfielders already. And yes, we need a left footed defender who ideally can play centrally or at LB for the time being, but if we buy one more damned midfielder I'm going to scream.
I'm not saying they all end up as England internationals but some of them will I believe, and at worst they become reliable, dedicated, and serviceable squad players. What is the actual point of having player that costs a fortune and almost never play?
Beni proved a larger point last night I believe.
Ideally what you do is evaluate the lads 'near' breaking into the first team and avoid bringing in players who frankly are stop gaps or covering players - or just not very good, who because you paid money for them or are paying decent wages - you will play ahead of them, classic point was Martina with Kenny as an example.
What you can't do is to assume that all the better younger players will be able to step up and fill first team spots instantly, some are simply ready sooner, some need further development at a lower level first and some players 'peak' almost at 16-18 and never push on.
So should we for example have not bought Gueye and Schneiderlin (one or both) and instead just played Davies, Baningime and Williams instead - nope because frankly one, two or three of them could have ultimately not been ready.
The best method is one which United used very very successfully with the class of 92, which is having a very strong 11 and bench, but when the younger players where deemed ready, they player by player started to move on first the players ahead of them.
Spurs are potentially doing something similar right now, Walker leaves and Trippier step up, Rose will probably leave as well soon and they already have his replacement there etc.
Coleman is back soon, Kenny is showing he's ready (which was obvious) so come the summer Martina should be volleyed out the club, he is a pointless player to have anymore
Davies and on initial look Baningime look ready right now, so Barry was moved on, arguably they make McCarthy redundant and a player we could get decent cash for, so he should be moved on come the summer, if both players really kick on during the rest of the season, then arguably they could make one/two of Gueye, Klassen and Schneiderlin potential players we don't need anymore (especially say for example if Walsh/Williams is deemed to be at the same level that Davies/Baningime are come next summer)
Holgate 'should' be getting developed as a cb, and a starter brought in for Keane to partner and this makes two of Jags/Williams/Mori surplus and they should then be moved on
It's all about clearing the decks for the younger players at the right time, whilst ensuring you never leave the team too short in case they develop slower than expected.
Similarly areas that the team has a complete absence of younger players in the academy who look close to being ready, the club should try to strengthen those areas - which tbf they are trying to do in recruitment for the academy, but also we should look at players established at clubs and who are young but good enough to contribute now, Lookman a good example, as was Vlasic, Someone like Tierney would be a great addition from Celtic, Baines is getting on and near the end, we have nothing behind him, so a perfect chance to bring in a player who can make the spot his for the next 10 years, and in a couple of years if a good academy lad develops in that spot, we have the Kenny/Coleman situation etc.
