Beckford's scoring record

He is looking more and more the part and he hasn't even had a full season in the top flight yet. 10 or more goals in your first full season in the prem league is never a bad return and I think Becks is capable of more. Fingers crossed we can find a long term striker to partner him in attack. COYB!

Becks will be fine , he's a goalscorer end of story ! Just needs to improve his hold up play and he'll do for me ! Plus got the same initials as Jack Bauer ! Now that's impressive !!!!

The plus for me is that he just looks like he's having the time of his life out there! Shock horror, a footballer who actually enjoys his job and is grateful for the chance to wear the blue of Everton with pride! Ashley Cole could learn a thing or two!!!

Becks was playing at the bottom level of english football only 5 years ago with Wealdstone and has had to fight his way up the leagues to where he is now and like you said he is loving it and wants to prove to everyone including himself that he can mix it with the best.

Cole on the other hand thinks he is owed a living

Exactly, its the attitude that footballers seem to have forget. Reminds me a lot of Ian Wright, in a good way that is!

For a 26-year-old coming to terms with his first experience of top flight football, a return of seven Premier League goals in 26 appearances is respectable.

But that figure doesn’t take into account anything like the actual time Beckford has spent on a football pitch this season.

The recent visit of Aston Villa was the first time he has actually completed 90 minutes in a Premier League match.

He has figured in exactly 1,018 minutes of top flight football – and has returned a goal every 145 minutes.

That’s enormously impressive.

To put it into some perspective, it’s a return only Didier Drogba, Robin van Persie and Carlos Tevez can top.

And it’s a better record than Wayne Rooney, Andy Carroll, Kenwynne Jones, Asamoah Gyan, Peter Odemwingie and Fernando Torres (although even Tony Hibbert can match the sulky Spaniard for goals scored over the last 12 games).

He needs to cut out all that ball greedy business like. He's not the superstar in this team, there's been a few incidents where he could have laid it off but tried a mad shot.

I think he's the best English striker over the age of 18 that we've had since Tony Cottee. Really starting to rate him. He's perhaps too limited to be our main man up front but as a second choice or a partner to a more rounded counterpart (whether that's Saha or someone we sign over the summer) he's invaluable. Go 'ed Jermaine.
