Every single football club has the resources and opportunity to do what we’ve done with EITC. The positive branding it would give clubs even if they didn’t care about any of it would still make it a no brainer so I’m surprised they all dot do it as well as we do.
They all do in some way and individual players have their own "pet" charities. Craig Bellamy (yes that one) has a school/academy in Sierra Leone, Drogba has his and many others. Lets face it the money some of these players have they want global attention for their "good" works whereas most of EITC is local based issues as we are a local club.

Well, they've put the person who made the charity what it is in charge of the whole club. They've found new investment, they've bought a great site for a new stadium, they have plans in place to grow every aspect of the club but a lot depends on success on the pitch. I used to complain about how the club was being run but now I see it moving in the right direction, taking it's lead from EITC.
"They" haven't.

It's so boring though.. Every thread, everything even slightly positive, you can almost hear @davek unzipping his keks to piss on it.
lollol. Possible mate but it's another view isn't, I actually agree with him on this and a few other of his views if I'm honest, but I am a pessimist where Everton are concerned, but I do get what you are saying.

Whatever the ins and outs of who is affiliated/owned/annexed by whom let's just agree that whoever EITC are, they're doing a great job.

Its the same with the support the club give to ex players. 1 game. 400 games. No difference, you were an Everton player. Granted, todays multimillionaires possibly wont need help with a hip op as a 50 year old, but as I am sure @alan ball will attest to, ex players all agree no one looks after their players better than Everton does.

Its in the DNA

Inappropriate Behaviour
As I mentioned the other day on the Pickford thread, I don't often post on here, but I come on to see what's happening, any gossip, etc, etc. I tend to stay on WSAG but pop into other boards just to get a wider idea about anything EFC. Every board has a few cranks, but by Christ, he really is the most contrary, miserable, boring fookwit throughout the boards. His belief that whatever he says is gospel is bordering on some insane self indulgent paranoia. I've just gone through this thread and it beggars belief that he can attempt to put some sort of twisted, miserable, bulls..hit idea of his, that attempts to piss on such a heartwarming and outstanding piece of work by the club. Dave lad, have a fookin good long hard look in the mirror at yourself. Contemplate what you sound like with your sound bites on here, and then pause before typing such drivel. It will do you the world of good. Honest.
Don't worry about him mate he's a beaut /blert /an Arl fish wife /and a MASSiVE BORE

No football club has to do charitable work. As far as I know, their is no Act of Parliament stating that football clubs must engage with their community through coaching, mentoring, support services and facilities. Everton are actually doing a lot of work that you would normally associate with council run (and funded) social services. However, that badge and history is powerful and makes a difference. It attracts our fans but also a wider audience that need support. I don't see too much of this type of work going on at other huge clubs around the world in Spain, France or Germany. These charities and foundations in the UK are football's Welfare State, or at least their contribution to it.

In all honesty, a football club's job is to win football matches and, apart from the negative PR that would follow, they could just close the whole thing down and invest solely in the coaching and playing operation. There are foreign (and even a few British owners) at other clubs that don't 'get' the community angle and just want to invest all resources in the best possible team. That's understandable from their point of view - it's their business to win. Largely though, they have been convinced that it is best left well alone and to dismantle years of work building a community programme would be unwise.

Everton do it better than just about everybody. Despite very lean times, they have backed that programme to the hilt. We should all be proud of that although I know there is little solace to be found in it when we are losing again at Anfield or being patronised by the media during another the Sky 6 love in.

EFCs communication on other important issues (stadium, transfers, managers etc) leaves a lot to be desired - no argument from me there. I would also concede to Dave that at times they have probably used EitC as a way to take some heat off themselves - what leadership at a club or organisation wouldn't when they were under scrutiny for other parts of their business that were not performing!?!? However, for their work locally, the club from Board level down, deserve recognition.

1/ it does exceptionally good work and deserves to be commended in its own right
2/ it really isn't Everton FC - its a separate entity
3/ the biggest error it ever made was throwing in with the Tory school academy idea (though I accept this was the moron Elstone's hobby-horse and that he placed pressure on this closely aligned organisation to take it up)
4/ maybe a bit cynically I tend to think there's an inverse relationship between EFC's failure to progress on and off the pitch and the push to gain publicity for EitC - the club basically has a parasitic relationship with the latter, shamefully

Dave I can never tell if you're being serious or not. Either way I've grown to love your posts. It's like stepping in to an absurdist painting.

Dave this a very good thing. Did you really have to pour scorn on it? I’m with Eggs here.

If it’s entirely separate then why is it that the club set it up in the 1980’s? Why do the players get involved in, for example, the sleep outs for the homeless?

It’s a separate legal entity because it now has to be to be registered as a charity. In practice it’s very much linked.

You are entirely correct in your reasoning as to the separation required to enable true charitable status. As for davek ....sigh.

I'd go as far as saying he's a ctun;)
Disagree with @davek all you like, God knows I do a lot, but don’t resort to insults.

Whats that red doing on here. Nasty piece of work
And don’t accuse blues of being reds.

Well said.
