Baines

Note the bolded bit. Baines won't score as many as Lescott but has better control and is more agile and skillfull so will link up better with a winger and can cross a ball better than Lescott.

So overall we should be even better attacking down the flanks with him and therefor create more chances in the box for other players.

Doesn't mean we will but thats what he offers attacking wise.

You must have watched a different Lescott to me last season then as Lescott offered goals and attacking threat

There both good going forward in my opinion. Lescott is very direct and gives us an outlet whereas Baines is more cultured and better at linking up with his winger. Lescott offers more goals but that's from set pieces, he could score those goals playing in any position.

Baines just needs to concentrate on his defending. If he does that then we might have another good fullback on our hands. We'll just have to wait and see what he offers in these games coming up.

I hope Baines takes this opportunity and runs with it. He isn't like Lescott but he can bring a different dimension to our game he has a sweet low level cross into the box that if Saha was playing he would relish. I agree with MickNick he looked strong taking free kicks at Wigan.

He played well and gave us abit more pace down the left wing.

Lescott finally got over his awful performances at CB when he has been there this season and done very well.

I think we look alot more dangerous with Baines up the left wing, he's more comfortable on the ball then Lescott who looks like a horse sometimes.

It doesn't really matter if he has scored more HB as Lescott didn't exactly come racing down the left wing and belt one in from 50 yards from LB. Most of his goals were from set pieces, where he is expected to attack whether at CB or LB.

Some good link up play down the left and he kept the ball well, his end product wasn't great though. It's usually excellent.

Didn't do anything wrong, a solid performance I thought. The game suited him though, we where on the front foot so he didn't have to defend much.

It'll be interesting to see what he's like against a good winger, someone who'll run at him. We'll have to wait and see, hopefully he can build on this performance though.

I think everyone sees it he is a confidence player with potential. I'm in the mind of what we thought of Jags early on playing for us. If he attains that I'll be very happy.

Maybe not 50yd screamers but the majority arent just 'defender' type goals neither. He takes up some beautiful positions a striker would be proud of and like his recent Villa goal he takes them with some aplomb. Baines can only dream of being on his level

Baines isn't in the team for his goalscoring threat though.

He's a great finisher, but the majority are from set pieces. He'd still get the goals he gets if he was playing centre half, his position doesn't really come into it.

He's tenacious but I can see why Moyes has been struggling to play him. He just needs to build on his confidence and get the basics right before the fancy stuff. Gave away a very silly freekick right at the end of the game last night.
