*Bump*

Well, after Yobo's injury last night, it looks like Baines is gonna get a run in the squad.

He looked lively in the 30 minutes he was in and the cross he whipped in for Fellani was superb.

Looking forward to seeing how he responds now.

He looked great against Chelsea, he always gets them low balls in the box which are so hard to defend against..

I still have a hell of a lot of faith in Baines to be honest.

And for so long in here we have been saying that it would take an injury for him to get a shot.

Well. He has it. And I honestly think this is going to be a great thing for us.

Maybe just my dream world, but, big but. I think if Baines shines we are laughing.

Jags I think is our replacement for the Carsley (as we will always know it) role. He needs a couple of tweeks but he has the making for it. (Nice one Moyes)

Then we have a defense of Pip/Hibbert - Yobo- Lescott - Baines

With Jags sitting in front.

Any 2 can move forward knowing that their position can be covered by one of the other 3.

Never will 2 from the same side of the pitch move forward at the same time, so as long as the discipline can be reinstated, I do believe we will be having a laugh.

Imagine what our fittest, on form, attacking players could do when they have the belief in their defence again?

The combinations of what we could offer with all fit players is outstanding.

In conclusion:

This Baines opportunity could be so much more vital to us than we believe.

Pity he cant defend himself and he is only 2ft 1. Lets hope Yobo is backing sooner rather than later

Thats my one annoyance, sometimes he is caught out, he wasnt at the start of last season before he got injured - but when he had his 'MoM' performance this season (i forget who it was against), despite being lethal in attack, his defending was dire.

Against Newcastle. Won a pen, set-up the 2nd and cleared off the line twice.

He just needs a run of games to get his defending back on track. Players get rusty after spending 3 months on the bench and then playing in spells.

There's a lack of quality English LB's in the League, and he's one of the best.

If he is 1 of the best then england have serious problem in that position but thankfully he isnt.
He also cost us in that game your talking about, as it was his mistake early in the 2nd half that they scored from, the winger tore him apart all game

The LB position for England is in a sorry state. Its why Wayne Bridge is always the international stand by when Ashley Cole gets injured....and Bridge hardly plays a game for his team. Other than that, who've you got? Lescott? Shorey?

But that's a bit of contradiction in that game. He almost cost us the game but he set-up the goals to put us ahead and then he cleared the ball off the line twice....

He was at fault for one of the goals....but so has Lescott himself many times and has been ripped open by pacey wingers for the majority of the season. Difference being Lescott plays every game, Baines spends majority on the bench - he's going to be rusty.

He brings the best out in Pienaar, both were awsome against Newcastle, and Pienaar began to play on Mon when Baines came on.

Pienaar likes playing with him. They're similar players in most areas and like the ball to their feet, can move better.

I'm not ripping into Lescott, who is a great LB (when he wants to be) but he's not as quick footed and is clumsy sometimes - getting foward he just kicks and runs then barges past people, losing the balls most of the time.

Lescott is a good Left Back. Baines is a good Wing Back.

He spends alot of time on the bench because he isnt good enough, he has been given numerous chances to cement his place and he cant. Then we have Moyes coming out with pathetic excuses for him in the summer. He will be gone in Jan if we get a decent offer

Could you point me towards these numerous chances hes had to cement his place please. I think you will find he hasnt been given any length of time to show what he can do. Judge the lad when hes played a while and got rid of his ring rust, then you will see why we spent £6m on him. Hes no mug Moyes.

And Yobo is out for 2-3 weeks, Baines aint going anywhere, unless we get offered 20m plus Marcelo by Real.

The 24 appearences he has so far made, he hasnt made more because Moyes knows he is useless and made a massive mistake, thats why he is making excuses for him

Then why didnt try and flog him in January to generate funds? How many of those 24 appearences are full 90minutes playing at LB? He's played more minutes at left wing than he has at LB for us. He hasnt even done 1 full 90minutes I dont think.
