Angus 'happily dissatisfied' Kinnear

The same fella apparently rejected West Ham's new contract offer when it was clear it denuded him of the right to final say on signings. Not the act of a guy who would have no say whatsoever on Everton recruitment...

Wouldn’t it have been a better move for the village idiot to come out and say “no idea, nothing to do with me” rather than “there’s no value in January so we won’t be doing any business” when asked about our transfer strategy in September?

He's certainly in charge of finances, so it would have been better to come out and say that we are restrained by them if we are.

Moyes won't be blamed for the club's parsimony. He'll be blamed for how his signings fare.

That’s definitely not what he said. What he said is there’s no value in January. So considering he has nothing to do with transfers he seems to pay particularly close attention to transfer dealings elsewhere or he wouldn’t have made that claim.

Let's not resort to name calling, it only reflects poorly on the community here. Any criticism becomes invalid when people start resorting to insults.

You're correct in that he gives a running commentary on transfers, he give updates in the summer that Moyes contradicted.

CEOs generally, comment on all areas of their business - but as per that linked article;

The problem is that such restructuring has raised fresh questions: who, ultimately, is accountable? And is the leadership in place capable of delivering the scale of recruitment required?

Based on my view of Moyes over decades - I think Moyes has the final and biggest say on who comes in. He gets the praise, as well as the criticism.

Under a DOF like Thelwell, we were signing players like O'Brien who Dyche didn't think was a priority. Under Brands, we were signing Godfrey and Doucoure who Ancelotti didn't want. It can happen when there's a DOF, but I think Kinnear will have the same role in transfers as Wyness, Elstone, Baxendale and all the CEOs before him.

Think, because I, nor anyone else on this forum conclusively know what happens with transfers. It could be Dan Friedkin for all we know throwing darts at a board.

Maybe we always need a lightening rod or a scape goat as part of fan psychology, the release valve or conduit for angst - its a vacancy since Bill and Mosh left, inevitable really.

Its a curious piece of fan psychology it exists at every club - the internal threat.

Or he was involved in Leeds going down might have a negative impact on how fans view him.

Hammond hasn't got a thread about him has he?

Was there ever a CEO/Chairman etc who was liked - its pretty much the same at most club bar id imagine City and prob a couple of anomalies.

Part of the job really that you are on a hiding to nothing - but i think fans definitely do need to find themselves a figure for criticism and blame when things arent going well - its part of fan/group psychology.

As some one above said, what actually gone that wrong in his role in the few months he's been here.............

Why do people keep going on about him having no say on transfers? Absolutely baffles me because if they knew anything about him they’d know there is no way in hell he’d be here without having some kind of input.
