Angus 'happily dissatisfied' Kinnear

Kinnear isn't responsible for signings Moyes is FFS.

His mate is responsible for negotiating the actual deals for the players Moyes chooses to sign, he's not responsible for choosing the players to sign.Stop posting this complete rubbish in order to defend Moyes you absolute whopper.

Loads of players rejected us because we weren’t gonna give them enough money.

This just in - head of recruitment has nothing to do with recruitment.

Nope that's Moyes, he's got the ultimate say on all of this as per his demands!
One - money wasted this summer is also on Moyes as I’ve posted multiple times in his thread. Particularly as he signed off on them and doesn’t seem to have an idea where to play them or even want to.

Kinnear signed off the change to the recruitment structure getting rid of a director of football and putting far more of the power to Moyes. That looks poor and is on him. He also sanctioned the spend, it looks without really having scrutinised what he was signing off for the money.

Pair of them have made a tit if it.

Didn’t he bring his mate who relegated Leeds in as head of recruitment?

Nick Hammond? The one we was somesort of transfer consultant with Kinnear at Leeds? I wonder what his role is, in relation to Director of Recruitment and the manager. I had a quick check and apparently he is;

Nick Hammond was appointed by Everton in June 2025 as the leader of their player trading activities, joining a new football leadership team that includes Nick Cox (Technical Director) and James Smith (Scouting & Recruitment Director)

My read of it is Kinnear implemented the move away from a DOF model, to a model which Moyes dictated, or at least prefers - infrastructure supporting the manager who ultimately makes the final call, away from what was the DOF.

I don't think any of us can make a worthwhile verdict on any of the background staff who support the manager right now - I mean, the actual Scouting and Recruitment Director joined in September after the summer window closed.

Even long term - for me, the manager is the one who'll make the final call on every transfer. Unless TFG have someone in their network who dictates it, but I'd be surprised.

Sounds like a cozy little bunch of mates who enjoy golfing and not doing much else.

Moyes doesn't want to play a lot of the new signings. It doesn't make sense to say he chooses the players if he won't even use them.

Who like ?

Well loads of players turned us down by all accounts. Of course they say it’s to play Champions league, but you just have to look at how many players are in Saudi to see that it’s really money that talks.

Not saying we should pay crazy wages, but the wage bill is by far and away the biggest indicator of ambition.

If you look at Guimares going to Newcastle when they were struggling. That was a statement of intent. What statement did we make in the summer?

Well he cost them about 40mil and wasn’t really seen as some superstar like who
Liverpool signed this
Summer. Guimares was seen as a very good midfielder in France, he’d only had a handful of Brazil caps at that point.

The first bit about suadi is ridiculous,
We ain’t throwing that type of money around and you still have PSR, Newcastle could have gone and bought 10 Guimaraes,
But couldn’t afford too. So not really sure your point is making sense, maybe had Moyes not been so obsessed with prem
Experience we may have had a Guimares or two

Nobody really knows what went wrong in the summer window. Yes, Moyes signed off on some weird deals, but that needs context. What were the alternatives? Who suggested the players? (I’m sure Moyes wasn’t insisting on Barry or Aznou..). Why did players turn us down? Did we turn players down?

Externally we know none of that.

The only players I know turned us down was Tete. Delap The the Portuguese winger who went to juve and malick Fofana at Lyon. Not sure of many more

They don’t appear to have done much since September when they started, to now in preparation for this window. Then again their boss did brief us back then before they’d even started, that we wouldn’t be doing anything this window.

There’ll surely be no excuses to not get off to a fast start in the summer window now anyway. All this time to meticulously prepare and draw up a list of targets.
