Angus 'happily dissatisfied' Kinnear

Do you not know Moyes's behaviour? It's called covering covering your arse and shifting the blame. Kinnear shut him down about those comments hence him not repeating them after that USA tour.
Moyes had to go to the US tour with hardly enough players to play the matches. It was Kinnear who said to judge at the end of the window even though the season starts in August and the manager was already clearly upset about the lack of recruitment.

I'm not blaming any individual for our poor recruitment. I'm blaming the recruitment team as a collective.

I can't get my head around the idea that Moyes would have been fuming in press conferences about the lack of transfers and good players coming in the door, if he was the only one to blame for the lack of good signings. It makes no sense to me.

So great was the transformation last season after Moyes took over that I thought he had changed.
I thought , wrongly, that he saw this as his last go at a club that could achieve something and that he was prepared to adopt a much more attacking approach.
Very stupid of me that. A leopard never changes their spots , it will always be safety first , no risk football under Moyes.
He's your original steady Eddie , miles better than Dyche but cut from the same cloth.
It is unbendable that Moyes has improved the team but boy have we hit that glass ceiling with a whack.
I actually think we have some talented players bar the obvious deficiencies and imbalance in the squad that are all too apparent to us but that Moyes seems blind to.
I really hope that we get the chance to see how good they are and how far they can go next season under a different manager.
I'm intrigued what someone like Iraola or Glasner would do with this group.

I don't think that much better, too many in this squad with no pace and look finished after 60+ minutes.

Nobody really knows what went wrong in the summer window. Yes, Moyes signed off on some weird deals, but that needs context. What were the alternatives? Who suggested the players? (I’m sure Moyes wasn’t insisting on Barry or Aznou..). Why did players turn us down? Did we turn players down?

Externally we know none of that.
True and as a reasonable minded person(I Hope), given the whole new structure for the club, I can understand/accept that the summer window could have been handled better and would expect a CEO to be reviewing or have reviewed this. Sadly from my perspective the fan base have been fed comments since about no value in January and signing young players to develop. This makes me feel there was/is a lack of acceptance by those responsible to acknowledge the squad needed some experienced players and still do not see that.

Part of the message seems to be we will go after players who improve us which is fine but does not mitigate the need for cover for all positions. As was pointed out on here, the Brentford first team squad had 10 players more than us.

You really don’t know Moyes then. He went for targets that didn’t want to come (for various reasons) and then sought to shift the blame onto other people. Moyes is only interested in one thing, himself.

It's too simple to put all the blame on one person. We know Kinnear has said Moyes rejects 99% of what is put in front of him, so we know he is difficult. However, if he thinks the personalities won't fit or handle the expectation, then he has a right to say that.

For all we know the players in the yes pile rejected us and the players in the maybe pile will cost so much that it leaves us hamstrung to get what we want during another window. Therefore as a collective they may have agreed to limp through on this basis and the blame has to be equally apportioned between all who make these decisions.

That's all we can hope for that there is common ground regarding the best way forward. Supporters may not agree, but we don't know if target A looks like he will come in the summer and paying out millions on a stop gap, might prevent a.n. other from being affordable.

When Moyes has forced the removal of the DOF role, demanded that he has control of transfers and then made the appointment of James Smith as the Director of recruitment and scouting it is pretty reasonable in my opinion to make him responsible for recruitment.

The same fella apparently rejected West Ham's new contract offer when it was clear it denuded him of the right to final say on signings. Not the act of a guy who would have no say whatsoever on Everton recruitment...

Exactly! 100% correct. It's an absolute fantasy pushed by apologists for Moyes that he's not in charge of recruitment.
