Angus 'happily dissatisfied' Kinnear

I asked the question earlier today and nobody could actually answer me
People's problem seems to be player recruitment (or lack of it). Our manager was very clear at the end of last season that he didn't want to work with a DOF because he wanted the buck to stop with him on player recruitment. So I would say if people are upset about transfers they should be aiming it at Davey

But it seems the manager doesn't want to use some of the new players including the one who cost over 40m

If a manager was in control of recruitment, would they really sign players, especially for big money, that they don't want to use much?

He’s signed off on every transfer mate, he’s the biggest part of the transfer committee and process.

He could have vetoed everyone he didn’t rate or fancy - he didn’t so he’s as much a part of it as the rest, and probably more culpable, especially with his atrocious handling and management of some of the signings.

I find it incredibly hard to believe Moyes led recruitment given his reluctance to use a lot of the players.

I’m not saying he led recruitment (he likely did), but I am saying he signed off and had veto if he didn’t want any player - therefore, we have only signed players Moyes approved and agreed.

His reluctance is down to his stubbornness and lack of bravery/faith in the signings.

He shouldn’t have signed anyone he wasn’t willing to use, especially given our limited options.

My concern is more that I'm not sure our recruitment team can identify the right players in the first place.

Moyes was openly critical of our recruitment last summer. I find it hard to believe he was leading recruitment and being openly critical of it in press conferences. That makes no sense.

Moyes doesn't want to play a lot of the new signings. It doesn't make sense to say he chooses the players if he won't even use them.
See Moyes's history! Moyes only took the job on basis he was in charge of signings, hence Thelwell going, hence James Smith being recruited. Are you seriously arguing that Kinnear is choosing the signings?!

One - money wasted this summer is also on Moyes as I’ve posted multiple times in his thread. Particularly as he signed off on them and doesn’t seem to have an idea where to play them or even want to.

Kinnear signed off the change to the recruitment structure getting rid of a director of football and putting far more of the power to Moyes. That looks poor and is on him. He also sanctioned the spend, it looks without really having scrutinised what he was signing off for the money.

Pair of them have made a tit if it.
100% this. Moyes effectively said to TFG I'm not coming unless you give me control over transfers. TFG to their shame agreed. Kinnear then did the PR to justify all of this and recruited Hammond, Moyes recruited James Smith to be in charge of scouting/player identification, essentially Smith took over Purdy's role and some of Thelwell's role. Bottom line Moyes is in charge of transfers

Do you not know Moyes's behaviour? It's called covering your arse and shifting the blame. Kinnear shut him down about those comments hence him not repeating them after that USA tour.
