First one was relegated, second one was so headed towards relegation he got fired. Thats really bad for just 12 months in the premier league. I mean he sounds perfect for Everton in the sense that Everton fans like failure and excuses, and he has both even if they sound reasonable.

The fact is Marco Silva is a bad manager if he was unable to keep Watford on pace just because another team tried to sign him. I mean he had 5 months to prove he was a great manager and then have all kinds of teams knocking at his door, and he blew it by losing his team. Thats the best case scenario. The worst case is that he was actually a bad manager with bad tactics and thats what caused the fall.

The last thing we need is another manager who either has poor tactics, or is a poor manager of his players.

Your argument is flawed. I've just told you his points per game over half the season was enough to keep them if if he had the job over a season. Like saying if he took over with 10 games left but on zero points and won all 10 he still got them relegated so he's crap

That argument works if we want a mediocre coach but we dont. We dont want to just avoid being relegated, we want to thrive.

He is 1-2-8 in his last 11. Even BFS hasnt had as stretch that bad yet, and yet fans are calling for his head, so if you think a manager who will go 1-2-8 will make you happy, more power to you, but for me its not nearly good enough for a club that wants to be top 15 in the world.

I said on my first post im not in the Silva in camp. I'm just saying the fact that you said he failed in his 2 jobs in England is a lie

I would not be suprised if Alladyce was sacked and Silva brought in. It is the typical
ill thought out, kneejerk, amatuer, incompetent fool hardy, and costly to the club poor decision that
I have come to expect from this joke of a board.

Watford had to act now, he was going to take them the same way he took Hull, failure of a manager

Neither. Need to stop hiring managers who have taken teams down. We should be scouring the continent for the next Pochettino type who would love a crack at the PL rather than always playing it safe looking for someone with PL experience.

Even if Everton were, it wouldn't satisfy the fan base.

Case in point with Pochettino: I was active on a couple of spurs-related message boards when Sherwood got booted (I don't bother as much these days), and I remember the rumours at the time - it was de Boer vs Pochettino, according to the papers. This was Pochettino who, to a spurs fan, had Southampton playing above their station, but they'd flop in the last 10 mins and drop points. The majority wanted de Boer.... "what has Pochettino even done?" and "not good enough". This was based on the ~30% win ratio at Espanyol, and ~38% at Southampton, with the only noticeable factor being that Espanyol were skint, and he got the Southampton lads individually good enough to be start a transfer conveyer-belt to the North West.

I'm not even going to start thinking what it was like as a Saints fan, seeing Adkins get the promoted twice and have a 50%+ win ratio, then swapped for a young guy who had managed a lower league La Liga side in an "OK" fashion (to the casual observer).

With someone like Pochettino, it's a combination of chance, patience and trust. He didn't hit the ground running at Spurs, and had little pedigree in management before then, so even if you took a time machine back to January 2013, and someone got Pochettino to wait for Moyes to saunter off to fill Fergie's bum dent, there's very little to support the theory that there wouldn't have been uproar from the fan base, and a P45 within half a season.

I genuinely think Silva looks to be the closest "style" of manager to Pochettino, but he hasn't shown any evidence of loyalty deep down. In contrast, Pochettino would probably still be in Southampton if Cortese had stayed.

Speaking of lies, saying that getting fired and getting relegated arent failures. Maybe youve been an Everton fan for too long, but the rest of the world views getting fired due to performing badly as a failure. The rest of the world views getting hired to keep your team in the premier league, and then not doing so and getting relegated as a failure.

Unless you can somehow twist things into that he WASNT brought in to keep Hull from relegation, then he failed to do the thing he was brought in TO DO. Failure. Fail, failing, failure.

Ok I'm not sold on Silva but you've argued all the wrong points. Failure normally means you've attempted something you had a reasonable chance of succeeding at. He however was up against it immediately with Hull sure to go down and he got them closer to staying up then anyone expected which is why he got the Watford job. If someone other than by the strictest most semantically blunt definition "failed" they normally don't get a better higher paying job.

People that fail get better higher paying jobs all of the time, thats why corruption and incompetence exists all throughout governments and big organizations. We would like to believe thats not the case, but I think all of us can agree on that. Thats basically arguing that if he relegated 4 teams and Chelsea signed him to be their manager he must not have failed, regardless of whether he then got fired by Chelsea 3 months later.

People more often get hired by how much someone likes them rather than how competent they are. If Marco Silva doesnt have a prayer of getting the job at a place like Napoli, we shouldnt consider him.
