It's up to Moshiri and whether he had a plan in the first place.
If Silva was his 1st choice and he's now available, he should hire him.
If Silva was 'flavour of the month' and now Moshiri is ok with SA, then he won't.
A general strategy, with the DoF (if that's what he is) at the forefront, would be nice.
Who knows?

Sam was and is a stopgap for this season. IF Silva is the intended target ...he'll wait till the end of the season. Having said that , I don't think Silva is anymore than flavor of the week. I don't really see why he is sought after. Bottom line is that after the Martinez / Koeman / Unsy / Allardyce merry go round ...we need to get the next hire right !

Indeed.

IMO we are one more bad managerial appointment away from disaster.

People that fail get better higher paying jobs all of the time, thats why corruption and incompetence exists all throughout governments and big organizations. We would like to believe thats not the case, but I think all of us can agree on that. Thats basically arguing that if he relegated 4 teams and Chelsea signed him to be their manager he must not have failed, regardless of whether he then got fired by Chelsea 3 months later.

People more often get hired by how much someone likes them rather than how competent they are. If Marco Silva doesnt have a prayer of getting the job at a place like Napoli, we shouldnt consider him.
We are talking about a specific occupation and not the world at large.

That's such a ridiculous characterization of my argument. Remove all context and then put words in my mouth. Cool.

Really? So now trying to change "the terms" because you dont like the fact you got called out on it. YOU were the one who started associating a "specific occupation" with the world at large when you said " If someone other than by the strictest most semantically blunt definition "failed" they normally don't get a better higher paying job"

And so now humans dont do human things like other humans? What reason do you have to suggest the absurd notion where humans that manage football aren't like humans that manage companies. Because humans do humans things, always have and always will. You wont even begin to understand people until you understand those simple fact that drives the decisions of everyone in every profession. You started it, Ill finish it.

Silva failed twice by the definition of the word, which the Oxford Dictionary says #1 is "Lack of success", and you said I lied about that.

Wouldn't surprise me if Silva's people have been contacted over a deal starting this June. It makes more sense than sacking Allardyce now. It's not Everton's way.

It'll be a straight in and out this summer. Silva will get his head together, enjoy the world cup and be at finch farm on 1st July.

The difference is that over the summer, the Board will have much more time to reassess their options, a luxury they didn't have in November. I wouldn't be surprised if A.N Other is appointed over the summer - that is, unless Big Sam's results and style of play pick up markedly over the next few months.

Find it very strange that we were willing to pay 15m for Silva and now he’s free we arnt going for him?

I just genuinely don’t think we have a clue who we want, what we want or where we want to go. If we wanted him that much then what’s changed since? We look even worse under Sam than ever, so are we now ignoring silva due to his bad run of results at Watford? If so why are we continuing with Sam?

Clueless club forever and always

I don't think we should write the idea off completely

All that's changed since we wanted him is that Watford have had a very bad run of form, and you can see how we may be at least in some small part to blame for that happening anyway

Silva hasn't helped himself - whatever we were willing to pay him, you don't walk out on a job after less than a season, that's the biggest black mark against him in my opinion

But - his body of work (until the last 10 games or so) is pretty impressive. I don't think the idea of him coming here in the summer should be dismissed out of hand

Having said that, I don't think we need to narrow it down to just an Allardyce vs Silva debate - there are other managers, mostly abroad granted, who deserve to be considered

I wasn't 100% on Silva coming anyways, but the fact he lifted his skirt up so high and bent over waiting for us there is no surprise in my eyes they completely tailed off....

We done them good - serves them right for their high and mighty invaders to our lovely polite GOT forum.

Still not sure if I would take him, but right now, the unknown with Silva is more appealing then the known with Fat Head.

If we are spending even a day in the summer looking for a new manager you may as well write off next season!
