Remember in the movie Braveheart when the Scottish Lords took the bribe from the English King and turned there back on Wallace and the freefolk and rode away on the battlefield.

That's what @PercyPlant and @Kevsleftpeg done to Moyes yesterday.

Abandoned him in his hour of need.
There’s a couple of others at least who have sneaked out the back door in the last couple of weeks….
Even becoming vocal in their desire for him to go - as if the vaults don’t exist 🤭

Do you not think that is part of the problem if all of our planning is centered around the manager though? I feel as though we should be identifying players with attributes destined to help them in this league. Then the management staff can use the players as they see fit. Or not use them ...
Not really. It shows we are basically putting a thoughtful cogent plan in place and are seeking to improve.

Man City spent several seasons with Pep’s former recruitment people in place and built a team to his liking despite Pelligrini being in charge. The point is, they had a strategy in place and it took time for it to reach the point for Guardiola to step in and take over.

Strategy takes time to implement. Making managerial choices based on short runs of form is foolish.

Everton’s xg this season is 46 (we scored 47) and xga is 56 (we conceded 50) so we marginally out performed what we should have scored but considerably out performed our expected goals conceded by 6 however on balance of play we could have had a goals conceded by difference of -10. The eye test told me we rode our luck a lot at times or relied on Pickford.

The only other club that gd was Palace who ended up on 45 points.

Our average possession was 44%.

Not great stats.

How do we know? as they have not been played, remember Moyes didn't play Barkley when he was coming through.

Last time Aznou played he had lots of praise for his performance, not been seen since.
Patterson played well against Villa away again frozen out.

The defence of Keane obrien Tarkowski mykolenko played last 7 games conceaded 15 goals, it wasn't working so he persevere with it hoping it would improve.

What young lad has he improved this season
What's that got to do with none of our squad (maybe Garner as an exception) not being good enough for a top six team.

There’s no way an ambitious young manager turns down AC Milan to manage Everton. This has been the whole point about “showing ambition” the whole time - the other party actually has to be interested.
Behave.
Virtually every manager wants a crack at the Premier League. Granted, its technically not the best, but the salaries are phenomenal.

So better recruitment?

Could that be done with a different manager I suppose is the question.
Absolutely it could and should be done with another manager however only if they are actually capable. My original reasoning behind keeping Moyes is that the same people responsible for bad recruitment will be responsible for bringing in a new manager. A new manager and another poor summer of recruitment may leave us wishing we had a dour defensive but often overacheiving manager.

Anyway perhaps they surprise me and bring in someone who is willing to give the players some freedom and perhaps Dibling and Aznou get a chance and impress.
