It’s a development though. You have to set the base then develop over time. We need to recruit more midfielders who are capable of dictating play. The way we are set up is a pragmatic way to get the best from what we have..

People scoffed, but losing Doucoure made us less aggressive higher up the field in terms of a high press. He wasn’t the best footballer but his athleticism and engine made him a hard man to play against.

People forget that what players do off the ball is at least as important as what they do with it.
David Moyes will not have a team dictating the play.

He isn't some new manager, we've got 25 years of management to work with here. Half of that is at us.

He will play % football.

He done it with Arteta in the midfield and he'll do it with anyone else.

There’s no way an ambitious young manager turns down AC Milan to manage Everton. This has been the whole point about “showing ambition” the whole time - the other party actually has to be interested.
He could have a settled lifestyle here in the UK. You are just happy it's another name out of the hat.

I know how it works mate and what we need to do is get this dinosaur out of the managers door ASAP, because no other coach will look at it while he's still here.
Yes they will. But the coaches who will come to Everton aren’t necessarily good enough to actually make a difference. People have fantasies that appointing one guy will magically fix all ills.

It’s nonsense.

Having a man is situ, making lots of plans leading up to the summer and then throwing it all down the toilet due to a bad run of form would be very bad executive management.

I needed a day to cool off after yesterday. While it's frustrating that we threw away Europe, and Moyes definitely shares the blame for that, the reality is that our squad over the last 10 games just didn't have the quality to compete.

We made decent progress this season, and after a solid 7/10 transfer window last summer, we took a step forward. However, we're still 4 to 6 players short, with at least 4 needing to be immediate, guaranteed starters. Looking ahead, teams that did qualify for Europe will likely struggle with the extra workload next year, much like Forest and Palace have this season.

The opportunity is there for us. Moyes has done just enough to earn one more season to capitalise on it, but the moment European qualification looks out of reach, it's time to part ways.
Just remind me what was the progress again apart from one point more? (But same position)

A season where we weren't in the bottom 3 for large parts of it.
At what stage you get your points throughout the season really is irrelevant in the final scheme of things (other than getting them earlier is a more relaxing experience for supporters), the only thing that matters is where you finish and how many points you achieve.

Take for example last year, we finished the season 23 points clear of relegation yet this season finished only 10 points clear of relegation. We were closer to relegation this season than last.

I'm saying keep. I think the first step to improving the club was stability and we're just about there with the new ownership and Moyes. Moyes is a good manager, he may not have the trophies to show for it but he knows how to treat players and under him we certainly have played better football than we did under Dyche & Lampard. Let's give him some credit for the improvements in Beto and Garner. It was also Moyes that swung Grealish towards Everton and got that deal sorted.

All that said I'm furious about the last month of performances and the perpetual mediocrity. Big issues with our defence conceding goals, our most creative forward (Ndiaye) missing in action, our newest striker (Barry) having a questionable season.

Moyes - I want you to stay, but sort all this out.

“sort it out” or p45 it is

Do you not think that is part of the problem if all of our planning is centered around the manager though? I feel as though we should be identifying players with attributes destined to help them in this league. Then the management staff can use the players as they see fit. Or not use them ...
