Transfer Rumour Aaron Ramsey

He is tho , his form might not be as good as it was but the whole arsenal team is guilty of that.
I'm not so sure which is why I posed the question.

Form wise he definitely peaked 3/4 years ago. Has his form since then been down to injuries and will he ever get that form back. Or is he now a player on the decline who peaked early. It happens with a lot of players like Joe Cole for instance, Aaron Lennon, Michael Owen, even Theo Walcott.

There's no doubt at his best he was arguably world class, and right now he is still a big upgrade on Davies. But if he is on the decline and Davies improves as he matures, that gap in quality is going to get narrower.

Anyway I don't think there's any rush for a decision. He intends to see out his contract at Arsenal and we also have Gomes to come into the team to replace Davies this season. Let's see how things pan out

I’m all for giving youth a chance but if we can get players that improve us massively right now we need to get them .

He's just got stale at arsenal.. A move would reinvigorate him. Seems to play his best stuff for Wales recently... He almost outshone bale in the euros

Huh?

- McCarthy has missed 80 games in the last four seasons; he needs to go.
- Schneiderlin has consistently underperformed for his entire time here bar the the first four / five months; he needs to go.
- Ramsey is better than both of them anyway.
- Gana is very good at what he does, but what he does is kinda limited. He needs someone alongside him in a 2-man midfield who has a bit of flair and inventiveness.

Ramsey is the wise, Prem-experienced head we need to play alongside Davies and help him develop. Better still, at 27 years old Ramsey is arguably coming into the absolute prime of his career. Gomes might be amazing or he might not... he might be here in September and he might not. Everyone else is basically a reserve / U21 player.

We have numbers in midfield, sure... but we lack quality, and some of those numbers have outstayed their welcome. Aaron gets a thumbs-up from me.

Put like that I agree with you. But realistically Ramsey would not come to us, would he???

Don't think he has gone stale as such, more the whole team have buckled under the pressure of Arsene's swansong and the fans on their backs. His goal the other week proves what he brings but now due to the contract situation he will be rightly benched as they get adjusted to life without him.

Still a top, top player.

a good player, on his day you might say a top player.....just doesnt impact the game enough to warrant spending big money on

This is correct

Maybe he wouldn't. But I was answering the question posed by another member, which was "We've got quite a few midfielders already, do we really need him?"

I think Aaron Ramsey would be a significant upgrade over:

- Schneiderlin, who rarely (if ever) appears remotely interested in playing football; and
- McCarthy, who rarely (if ever) is fit to play football.

Not only does Ramsey appear rather more interested in competitive football than Schneiderlin, and not only does Ramsey appear statistically more likely than McCarthy to play again sometime in the next two years, but also he has demonstrated consistently over the previous three or four seasons that he is a noticeably more skilful player than both of the above wage thieves.

Maybe he won't be interested. But we certainly should be.

Tonight is an example of why he would want to leave. Ozil plays inconsistently and gets to be captain. Xhaka starts every game despite being objectively terrible. Mkhitaryan hasn't really produced that much. They all keep getting chances.

Either that or he isn't getting the chances because he's leaving but either way I think he is making the right call. We should try to get him.

Now I think about it, supposing Gomes stays, and Besic is actually better than the championship and we want him back, and after Christmas, Davies plays like a boss, then the first choice is Gana and Gomes, and Davies/Bangingime as back ups, then we have to get rid of Besic, Schneiderlin and McCarthy and Ramsey isn't first choice here either. He doesn't really replace Gana or Gomes.

I think Ramsey is a midfielder for a 4-4-2 and nobody plays that any more, unfortunately! Would have been great in the Fergie teams, or the Moyes 4-5-1 for instance, but now everyone's playing this 4-2-3-1 and I don't see where Ramsey fits
