A fantastic thing that I'm really excited about regarding Martinez at Everton so far

Based on the fact the players he signed where so brilliant they contributed to wonderful Wigan being relegated.

Kone 13 goals, more than any EFC or LFC player bar Suarez.
Alcaraz missed most of the season.
Robles on loan, played 11 games, excelled, 6 clean sheets, including in the FA Cup Final.

Terrible that.

I know that. There's really no concern for us on that level. We have to give him 100% backing until such time he's proven himself incapable...a day that will never arrive, imo. Weighing up how he might fail at Everton on the basis largely of two defeats in a very competitive tournament against top, top teams just seems to be a waste of time and energy.

I honestly don't think preseason defeats are that big of an issue with anyone.

How many 'Martinez worries me...' threads, yet one 'Martinez is doing good things' thread and people start slating him.

Bizarre. Two sides to every story lads.

And until we have played 10 games no one is allowed to express any opinion about Martinez whatsoever.

Realistic on an Everton forum?

Tim, you can express any opinion you wish (mine included), however it has little relevance until we see how Martinez performs for real in the Premier League with Everton

We should piss our first 4 games.

You can vault this, we will be top at the start of September and the forum will be littered with "Does anybody think we can win the League" threads.

That is one thing to bear in mind, we have better squads than Norwich, West Brom, Stevenage and Cardiff. So you'd expect all victories or at least 2 win 1 draw (for the league games), irrespective of us having a new manager really.

If anything though I see our first few fixtures as a real chance to breed some confidence around the club, and with the 2nd home game being Chelsea we could really get a belief we can achieve something this season.

Will have to wait and see of course... and hopefully I've not just omega-jynxed us.

I don't think there is Anybody not sceptical about the new manager, coaches, staff, players and all round revolution at the football club.

But to be so judgemental after a few games against the champions of Italy, Real Madrid and Valencia is a bit far fetched. They are the elite of European football and we kept within a goal of each of them. That's pretty damn good IMO.

I'm expecting a top 8 finish anything above that Europe/Cup etc would be fantastic just like it would have been under Moyes.

If Martinez can maintain amd build on what Moyes has done I'll be more than happy. We can't ask for anymore.

But he needs the backing of the board should the big players go. (Full funds for transfers) and also the backing of the fans. I'm not expecting us to get in the Champions League over night especially with the peanuts we spend.
