A fantastic thing that I'm really excited about regarding Martinez at Everton so far

FFS this is supposed to be the positive thread. How long has he been in the job? Give him time!!! Some of the naysayers here have really annoyed me. It's like looking at a partly built house with only the frame up and moaning about no place to sleep or party. It's important to have a vision of the future and work towards it. Give him a season, weigh up the pros and cons, then start making judgements.

We can't judge either way yet, it's far too soon and it will still be too soon at Christmas. Martinez was never going to be able to remould the squad in this window, and he won't be able to do it in January either. We're not Man City and it will take 2-3 seasons before we're watching a Martinez team. We're also not the RS, we're classy and knowledgeable supporters and we need to be patient if we don't hit the ground running.

Personally I'm looking forward to being at GP on Sunday to welcome our new manager and the new players, and to see with my own eyes how we set up and play.

As a slight aside, anyone else think it's not ideal for clubs to have their international players (those not suffering transferitis) missing for half of the week before the first fixture of the new Premier League season? From our POV it means RM won't be able to work with the full squad until Thursday/Friday.

Yeah, ****ty England game, shame we aint playing a team who might lose a few more players to internationals, not sure how many Nowich have got, im expecting that to be a hard fixture for us to be honest

Not just England though, and there are U21 matches too. Barkley and Stones are in the England U21 squad, along with Norwich's Redmond.

Norwich have Ruddy in the England squad and three with Scotland, and I think 7-8 in total so not ideal for either side.

While it is way too early to make a big decision, it is not too early to take a few positives and negatives from the manager in the preseason so far. He certainly is aspiring for greater things than Moyes, gives more time to youngsters (at least in preseason), and likes beautiful football. However, he hasn't defined a single formation yet, and none of his signings have been proved themselves yet. Once again, all of those opinions can change, but it isn't too early to talk about what we have seen so far.

So far the signs are good with regards to youth and squad rotation. McAleny and seemingly Duffy going out on loan hopefully means an end to stock piling the u21s. From the looks of preseason it seems as though Barkley, Oveido, and Deulofeu will get shifted in out of the team and there will be more of an emphasis on the form of players. That to me is a massive improvement.

Dunno to be honest. Cant remember...definitely can say you are a fairly reasonable poster. An example is the comment saying...as part of an overall complaint...that martinez signed ****e and lost games.

To me thats ridiculous and unnecessary from anybody looking to actually support the club and the new manager.

Fair enough.

Im looking forward to this season more than I have for any other season for a long time now.

Good or bad its something different and it should be interesting to watch.

I think thats an over reaction (as are the complaining posts in the first place)

Moaning on a forum has zero effect on anything as long as the players and staff are supported in the grounds.

Its like point scoring, I wouldn't mind if Martinez been here a season but we're still in pre-season mate. Its a joke.

I think if you're expecting people to wait a season to discuss their new manager you need to lay down the pipe and speak to jesus.

Stones, Naismith and Oviedo have looked especially good in pre-season. Under Moyes they would still be resigned to the fringes of the squad until one of the regular players was injured. It seems though that Martinez is creating some genuine competition. Pienaar in particular should be feeling the heat from Oviedo, Naismith and Deulofeu. Hopefully it will push him to play like when he wanted a move back to us.

which to me is slightly alarming considering they have been bit part players for the time they've been here. My point is that we need the 'names' to 'step-up to the plate' otherwise we're in S'it Street and to me the reasons this hasn't happened are plain to see.

I'm an optimist by nature (think you need to be if you're an Everton fan) but I simply cannot help feeling concerned about what's ahead under Martinez.
