7 - Mainly because the majority of the season has been good. The last month has been disappointing but the season as a whole has still been a lot more relaxed.

The game is fine margins and the last month has shown that to a tea. A couple of things that go our way, penalties given, player mistakes and manager tweaks that may have been needed and we still look OK. In fact, all it would have taken is one or two of those games to have a little bit more luck, better finishing, competent officials and all those saying 4 would be saying at least 7, maybe higher.

It is those small things that gives me the sense we are well on the right track, maybe with a new manager, maybe not.
Majority of the season being good ? Mate have you seen the home form ?

For me it’s a seven - had a lot of promise but this faded at the end. This is very disappointing. That said, we should have something to build on next season.

Being in a Euro chase while not being in any relegation bother is a positive.

Out of both cups faster than Dale Winton in a closet, turgid dross on the pitch, new young signings very much off it, and a cowardly slow motion month-long capitulation that took in a last minute derby defeat and Seamus Coleman’s farewell tour to an empty arena.

Unhappily dissatisfied.

….i’ve gone for 6. Season tailed off towards the end, maybe expectations were a little high because of our proximity to top 5 a month or so ago.

Signs of improvement especially given the re-build required last summer with so many out of contract. Despite demands for instant success, it’ll need more than 1 window. I’d be hoping to see further strengthening this summer. Who knows we might even get a new RB.

Key for me is watching my team create and be difficult to beat. Wins at United and Villa, we gave Arsenal a scare at their place and should’ve beaten City at home. Home form has been poor and I get the Managers accountability in that.

Disappointment in missing a Euro spot, I just felt key creative players form dipped at a crucial point. I do think Moyes needs to consider rotating players much more to keep things fresh. Rohl and Armstrong deserved more than being inactive for so long after their performance at Villa. George another who should certainly have started games.

I’m less critical of JOB playing RB despite his poor performance yesterday. I do think we coped quite well with the loss of Branthwaite for so long, overall Keane did fine as back-up. I’m sure the loss of Grealish had a big impact on the season outcome.

I’m sure we’re now in a transition from Gueye and to a lesser extent Tarkowski. We have the foundation to replace, Armstrong, Garner, Rohl, Iroegbunam can fill the CM for years come whilst Branthwaite/JOB are obvious CB successors. I would like to have seen more of Armstrong, I think he’s got genuine ability to pick a pass in possession.
I think that could present a huge problem for next year. If we fail to get a first choice RB our CBs will likely Tarkowski who has zero pace and is increasingly looking to pick fights rather than dominate and a potentially fragile Branthwaite.

JOB looks a bit error prone and despite his size doesn't always look physically dominant.

I'd be looking to shift Tarkowski to 3rd choice if possible. We need a CB who is strong, quick and decent on the ball.

5/10. If the season had ended after Brentford it would have been 7/borderline 8 but everything post that game has been unacceptable

I've said similar myself but I think when I sit down and think about it then unacceptable is harsh.

If we see the Liverpool game out and get a draw then keep our heads against City and get a win, we now sit joint 7th.

Out of all the games yesterday was unacceptable. Worst performance of the season in my eyes.

4

A season where some ambition and drive could have got us Europe but dour negative thinking manager that kept his favourites in team despite an average of 1 in 8 decent games, did'nt use younger lads and happy to throw them under bus , horrible home form, same crap system despite not having players to play system 🙃, out of both cups early and manager/some fans excited about being a mid table mediocrity team 🙃

A 5 / 10 football better than Dyche, not a high bar though, squad usage, pretty poor in my view the players looked shattered the last couple of games, when it mattered. Players played out of position cost us in the end. Hope we can keep hold of Grealish, Obrien, KDH, N'diaye, Pickford, Garner and Branthwaite. Sign a centre forward, two fullbacks and a fast winger.

5/10.

50+ points would have been par but they've fallen short. Getting close to 60 wasn't a hard ask this year either, with how tight the table was, but this manager bottled the chance as per.

Not worrying about relegation was a blessed relief but that can't be something to be content with. Standards need to be a lot higher if we're to get anywhere. Moyes isn't the man for that.

Not happy regardless of how Angus Kinnear feels.

The end of the season has been very poor really. Golden opportunity to push the club forward and we just ran out of steam. Arguably on the manager as rather than running the same 11 into the ground we could've had a plan to rotate and introduce younger players as the season progressed.

What Dibling and Azanou must be thinking... Both wasteful management really. Azanou nearly won a game with a late sub appearance yet never came on again. Dibling had a poor performance and was banished.

I respect moyes for everything he's done and he should get to see out his contact in my opinion but it's very poor long term planning from him

An excellent post, Eggs

Spot on imo, balanced and considerate

So often in football the last thing that happened is what always happened. We've played some good togger this year and been pretty unlucky with some results; had some shocking refereeing decisions go against us as well and in another universe somewhere would be 5 points or so better off. All with our two most gifted players out for large portions of the year and calamity Keane starting how many games? Bit of context needed and a longer lens reveals real progress, even if the doomsayers don't want to hear it

But it's not a zero sum game either, and there is no doubt that amongst it all Moyes could have managed the squad better so that now, when we needed them most, they would be better prepared and more able to step in and get us over the line.
