No, on one eye there have been disappointing elements, on the other eye there has been a lot more positivity around the place. That is definitely 2 eyes.

It is not all bad and it is not all good, that is definitely how it works. I just believe that on the whole I have felt generally content, when averaging out the feelings of all games.

Try to see me as an annoying hippy friend who is always content with things, unless there is a complete disaster :).
No I was saying the highlighted bit wasn't how it worked. 'We've been in the top half at times so by definition it must have been good' is just not how you look at these things, on any level.

Over the course of the season if we finish 13th or 14th, it has not been a good season whichever way you want to try and slice it. No idea how you can rate the season a 7 if we finish the same or worse off than last season, which not a single sign of progression in any aspect of the football club.

I did mention that it might be more 6.5, maybe even 6.

I think to be in the top half for most of the season and to disappointingly drop down to the same position as last season is a little more healthy than being in a very real relegation scrap and dragging ourselves away.

It is fine lines, a penalty given against City and/or West Ham would see us in the top half and with a decent shot at Europe, and suddenly your 4 is more a 6. It is all small ifs and buts that have decided the position in the league this year. For me, it is not a stretch to say that there has been a contentment about this season and that is a good thing. Fingers crossed that, whatever the final league position we can build on it.

As I see this, we can judge it poorly on where we finish up but we can't judge it positively on the positions during the season? Maybe I have it wrong?

I am judging the season as a whole. Lots of ups, lots of downs, but as a 38 game season I have fairly enjoyed it. It may be because I shut it off straight after the game, I am just not as emotional about football anymore. So, to be content is my new happy.

This is simply an admission that your standards are on the floor/don’t exist.

4, if we beat Spurs and get top 10 which is doubtful might go to 5, the same number of subs your allowed to make Mr Moyes, average season with a few good results thrown in and no relegation threat for a change

Bottom half finish; 2 derby losses; exit from both cups in early rounds.

WTF is anyone thinking handing that 💩 show anything above 3/10?

No matter where we finish now, there is no excuse for the shocking form of the final run in. It was all there for the taking and we actually only needed to do average to qualify. We won 1 game in the last 8. Absolutely abysmal and he is lucky he got a 4. Probably deserves a 1 or 2 for the final 3rd of the season.

Six weeks ago I’d have given it a 5 or 6 at a stretch, but after the results/performances/attitude of both the players and the manager since the Chelsea game I’m going with 4 and they’re lucky to get that!

Well to some extent yes, obviously that's how it works.

It's probably also worth noting that you haven't stumbled on some amazing new zen philosophy by constantly telling everyone how absolutely not bothered you are about us being rubbish. It takes me the same amount of time to type a post saying we've been crap as it does for you to type one saying everything's great. I (and I assume the huge majority of people on here) will 'shut off' in the same way as you. I'm not consumed by a rage that ruins every waking second every time we lose, I'm just capable of deciding whether I was happy with what I saw or not before I comment on it.
