Current Affairs 2024 POTUS race

I think this largely counts for a lot of things these days. People create their own echo chambers , even on here.

The western population are brainwashed, information is controlled, withheld, twisted to a narrative and people heavily using social media then trigger their algorithms to keep only seeing the same viewpoint.

Just look at the Israel conflict where even language is manipulated in reports. How many people genuinely thought trump would walk this election, because clearly in real life voters weren't voting Harris, all because they were so used to seeing their own opinions each day? Many other issues that are treated as right and wrong , even such as the trans debate. People see their own opinion, they just don't see the majority disagreeing with their viewpoint by design.

Everyone is brainwashed, what makes it so scary is that people will argue and defend the information fed to them without realising it was planted there for them to think. Anything they don't get from their information source must be lies/fake/propaganda. No wavering in their opinion, their opinion is right.
Is that what you were told to believe?

Hardly Dave.

Pittsburgh and the rest of the expats and foreigners all understand and respect the fact that they have a different experience supporting Everton than scousers do.

Its like foreign blues complaining when the locals let out a roaring boo at half time. You don't have all the context to justify claiming an educated opinion.
Yeah, but having "a different experience" was not what he said; he said "NONE".

The optics were out of whack for me too with the Harris campaign. The big events she had with celebrity endorsements: I questioned it on here and said it's a turn off for voters but others told me that it was a proven way of getting a message across.

The whole Harris campaign now feels like a blur of Beyonce, J.Lo, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift etc etc.

Utter nonsense that turns more people off than on.

I think in Harris's case it was to camouflage the fact that she's a terrible speaker with zero charisma.
Seems there were lots of Latinos voting for him too.

Seems mind boggling to me but then it has since he openly mocked the disabled journalist in 2016. How that wasn’t the end of him I’ll never know.

Not to be too stereotypical but there's that macho thing that Trump plays into with many men in that culture.

A day oe two to grieve. then start actively working to ensure the mid terms are a whole loy healthier than this one.

"Pay it no mind" as an heroic woman said ... despite the stinging slap given to our values. If you nurse the grievance, you'll lose the focus you're going to need.

I’m really not sure what you’re trying to say here, but so we’re clear I’m saying that men, and anecdotally men I know, didn’t vote for her because of biases, sometimes explicitly stated, against having a woman as leader.
She was a WOEFUL candidate.

Be honest, for just a moment. You would never have picked her. You just wanted Blue no matter who, and anyone but Trump.

Dont blame a majority for seeing how bad she was with their own eyes and ears.

Woeful

At the risk of sounding like a vehement Marxist, this is late stage capitalism in action. Profit is the system working as intended. When you rely on business owners to have a sense of moral duty or societal duty to override their legacy or accumulation of wealth, more often than not you fail to see that play out without a check/balance of regulation.

Unfortunately, this election is also democracy in action. The never-Trumpers just happen to be on the losing side.
It's more the classic sign of late stage empires.

It wouldn't be like that at all. You can support a sports team from anywhere, you can't live in America if you don't live in America. You can have an idea of what it is like, but like everything, it is not the same as knowing what it is like to live there.

I can have an idea of it but I would go to my wife to know what it was actually like to live there.

Saying I have no idea what living somewhere could be like: 'None' completely rules out any sort of empathy.

A strange take IMO.

Especially given that the UK and US are culturally very close. Far right populism is a thing we deal with now, isn't it?

I'd like to hear your stores about interacting with people in the US, on their turf, outside of American cities. For example places like Beaver County, PA. Anywhere in West Virginia. Go south about 45 minutes from DC. You can even go to the central valley of CA to find these people.

Go on. I'd like to hear about those real life interactions you've had with them.

Yeah but does Pittsburgh have a y idea what it's like in rural Texas or the flyover states for example, same thing can be levelled as again at Davek
