Your positives and negatives from the derby

Positive: Barkley switching to a more defensive midfield role, and still bossing the midfield. Thought he was excellent today.

Negative: Our inability to defend set pieces - the warning signals where there for all to see against Hull - who had free header after free header.

A lot of the positives and negatives are similar for me

Positives:
Martinez subs, after going 2-1 down were superb to pull us back and take the lead
Headers up front
Lukaku, 2 goals and some good play
A lot of players that were playing poorly recently suddenly found the drive, pace and passing ability they have been lacking, Mirallas, Pienaar, Barkley were superb
3 goals for
Couple of good counter attacks
The pace in our team for the above
Mirallas smashed Suarez and stayed on
Good to see us play a full game at tempo, instead of just one half and I think we look good for the coming games.

Negatives

Martinez sub, 10 minutes to go and displayed what posters have been ranting about Moyes for doing for years, and bought on a defender to shore up a 1 goal lead, subsequently handing momentum to the opposition and ultimately costing us 2 points.
Headers at the back
Lukaku, a lot of poor first touches again, poor decisions, 1 unbelievably bad pass when 4 on 2 on the counter
3 goals against
Diving has been creeping into our game regularly this season and I'll be honest I am not a fan at all. Were not to the level of the bigger teams or Liverpool but its enough to get a bit cringey.
Mirallas smashed Suarez and stayed on, but the negative lies in Mirallas not being heavy enough to of done sufficient damage. :)

Set pieces

There was 7 minutes to go. He threw two subs on. It's called running down the clock. And in any case, even if it was the defensive move you believe it to have been (we still created going forward after Mirallas went off, btw), after the crazy shifting in momentum throughout the game it would have been a wise move to try and consolidate.

There is no comparison between this feller and cowardly ginger bollocks - after 12 games I'd have thought that much was obvious by now.

Positives:

The Amount of Chances we created
Deulefeu, Mirallas and Barkley were much improved, Barkley and DeuLofeu, need to look up, and have the confidence to pass!
We Can play without Baines
Lukaku Can Score Goals.... Given the service.
Martinez, we weren't predictable, Would we have came back from 1-0, or 2-1, to lead, under Moyes? No Chance.
We kept them relatively quiet, they had 4 chances all game.

Negatives

3 Goals conceded, that's poor.
All were set pieces.
Barry got a Yellow Card. Misses Stoke.
Failure to hang on to the lead, after trying to hard to get it.
Mirallas didn't go through Suarez hard enough.
Another draw, United and Arsenal away, in the next 3 games. We Need Wins.

Of all the posters to be teaching me the merits of bringing on an extra defender with 10 to go, especially when it winds up costing us points, you do make me chuckle at times mate.
We all know you wouldn't of called it running down the clock in previous seasons.

Positives
*Our unbeaten home record is still intact.
*We're disappointed with a draw. How many recent derbies can we say that about?
*We marshalled Suarez well and restricted them to 5 shots on target.
*Martinez was positive and tactically flexible enough to sacrifice a holding midfielder for a winger.
*Lukaku and Mirallas are back among the goals.
*Prior to scoring I thought Lukaku was the worst of our forward players.

Negatives
*We were naive to give away the freekicks from which they scored.
*All of their goals were easily preventable.

I was surprised that they took off both Lucas and Allen and really went for it. It almost played exactly into our hands. How many breakaways did we have at the end?

I thought he might have took Mirallas off before he got himself sent off though and put either Jelavic or Naismith on to loiter and try and get on the end of something.

We were still going forward though. Getting bogged down in defender > attacker < is neither here nor there if the plan is to stay positive and on the front foot. And in the heat of it, I'm not even sure if he didn't use Stone as a third CB and ask his two fbs at that stage to push on. I just dont remember.

If Moyes did it he would have been called everything under the sun, IMO it was a strange sub, but oh well, im not gonna put my mask on cos of it.

TBF, that really is no option whatsoever. We had no one off the bench to go on and put them on the rack to strecth them. We'd played that card with Deulofeu and to good effect.

You have to look at this in the round, though. The game had twists and turns. It was the 83rd minute of a Derby that went one way and then the other a few times. Getting your subs on and breaking up the chance of another momentum shift off a flowing game in the final minutes must have been in Martinez's mind.

It really is preposterous to pick holes in the man's decision making today.
