Every EU nation has enjoyed a massive free ride for decades courtesy of the US of A. Why pay for the cow if you can get milk for free...

It’s going to cost us, no doubt, and there’ll be times of difficulty. Still, I think the severe sanctions will need to be put in place at least in the short and medium term.

The gas issue presents a concern, but another problem (less immediate) is they may not give EU gas. Although, that’d cripple them first.

Problem is: we won't be able to pay for gas so they'll cut us off anyway.
I'm no expert but I hope we don't blindly leap into a banking crisis nobody can afford.

He got most of the gas when he annexed crimea, the rest is in the west.
