If Putin does announce mobilisation tomorrow (which I pray he doesn’t ) I hope our government have a plan ready to go in terms of radically increasing our armed forces, especially the army.

It’s a shamefully underreported scandal that those cuts they made last year haven’t been cancelled even after months of this now, but that would demand urgent action. The Army in 1989 was 300k and that would need to be the minimum required, it may even need to go higher than that.

Even he does announce mobilisation, he's basically announcing 3 months until a load of under trained, poorly equipped troops he can't pay are on the ground.

From a strategic point of view, Russia have already lost this war. They will emerge weaker than they went in.

For all their investment and posturing, the Chinese armed forces are still relatively green, and more so their blue water navy which needs to grow.

Attacking across the Taiwan Straits and the South China Sea isn’t something they can guarantee on yet, so it’ll be a few years before they do.

The parade is no threat to the west. There was hardly anything there except it’s usual nuclear threat. The Air Force didn’t even make an appearance…something to do with the weather which looked fine…they were probably more afraid of some Ukrainians taking down the Z formation of planes…..

The parade was laughable.

Military hardware that’s been soundly annihilated across Ukraine rolled out as if it’s something to be proud of.

Trampy conscripts marching and cheering the despot Putin like they are in North Korea.

Their country, leadership and military are an utter shambles and they’ve unwittingly exposed their sheer incompetence to the world through a disastrous display of power.
