What in reality would be the difference between a "full mobilisation" and the current offensive that Russia are engaged in? Honest question - I don't see a big difference.

Is there any difference if Russia declares it a war over a special operation (or whatever they call it)? Is there some actual difference in this? I presume that there might be some technical but important changes.

At a minimum it would probably involve recalling a couple of half year-groups of conscripts (approx 130,000 men are conscripted per half-year according to this article), but at this stage who knows.

You are right in that their country has been destroyed, however unless France and Germany twist their arms up their backs to give Russia even more land then I think they will force Russia out. I think Ukrainians will regard that as winning. Ukraine didn’t start or wanted war, the only one who did was Putin and if Russia gets pushed out, with the level of Russian military destruction seen, then the war will probably end with Putins death. As you say, there are no real winners in war, everybody loses….
Expect Americans, they got exactly what they wanted, Russia weakened, European states rushing for their protection in NATO, Germans switching from relying on Russian resources to probably buying American or from American aligned states.

In geopolitical sense this is great victory for Americans, massive defeat for Russia, and terrible blow to European Union and its political and energy independence

First strike against American hegemony is failing, now its China turn

Basically they can conscript old men and young boys - kit them out with old crappy equipment and send them to Ukraine to be used as cannon fodder

Basically declaration of war...and mass conscripts being sent en route Ukraine...

Could be also used to send fresh conscripts to the positions in Far East and other military districts, while sending professional soldiers currently stationed there to the battlefronts in Ukraine.

I agree with some of your comments. But don't you think Europe is the biggest winner going forward. Perhaps the easy energy is disrupted from Russia but the trade offs are immense. Europe was never energy independent when relying on Russia and just received a wake up call. Biggest relief now not worrying about a conventional strike by their greatest adversary for years to come. I would say Europe will prosper after a few years of tightening the belts.

There is a lot of anti-American feelings in Europe, in Italy, Spain, my own country (Croatia), here nobody believed in pre-invasion warnings simply because of bias against America, majority here thought its just American bullshit.

America is benevolent hegemon, but its still a hegemon, and a lot of people resent to be a lorded by someone.

Example when our soldier died on a mission in Afghanistan few years ago, there was so many spiteful comments in style "what was he doing over there" or "he died in foreign war for American interests"

They will never be loved because they are capitalists it is in their blood. Every Country has their own warts and benefits so a compromise is always tenable to work together for the common good. The alternative is waking up as slaves.
