We hear everyday and right from the beginning that it's going very badly for Russia but the fact is Mariupol is gone, the Donbass area and Kharkiv looks likes its going too. Odessa is now being targeted. It just seems to me that the Russians are winning on the ground.

To hear that the Russian's have committed 70% of their guided missile arsenal already doesn't bode well for a long term conflict in their favor. They may well in the short term take control of these cities in the East and South but they won't hold them as they have to contend with precision weaponry coming back their way and apparently some gamechangers. I agree with you that short term more atrocities will be front and centre on the news as Putin advances.

Sad fact is some of most destructive weaponry becoming available to Ukraine hasn't been used yet. This number will rise and rise significantly for Putin's reign of terror. Senseless as he know he won't be able to control the ground he now has. Such a waste of life.
