Why are you so desperate to cause international crises for the sake of the Baltic States?
Mate, take it as a compliment as if you’re not a WUM I’d be more concerned because it's like talking to a dense piece of wood.

But, for clarity either way: Ukraine Baltic States; NATO states will be defended by other NATO states; doesn't matter either way as Russia won't attack NATO.

I don't want an international crisis but the main point is, bar Ukraine, I doubt there'll be one for the above. We know that and Russia know that.

How do you think it should be fought Kev? What should the UK/EU/US/The West/NATO be doing right now to react to the situation?
Personally it’s not worth the aggro - give Putin the bits of land he wants in Ukraine. It won’t happen though.

I see no reason why we are even interested in the area.

We will just get hit with high gas and oil as a result.

Aggressive expansionism is best dealt with before it encroaches into areas you are explicitly interested in. And I've no doubt that there are British interests in several far flung areas throughout the globe that blokes on the internet have no idea about.

There were probably a lot of people who saw no reason why the annexation of Austria was of interest to the UK.

So we have no interest in the area. Thanks for clearing that up.

I said no explicit interests that a bloke on the internet would know about.

I'd guess we have interests there otherwise we'd be turning the other cheek as we do in the countless conflict hotspots throughout the world. A bloke on an Everton forum not seeing the reasons doesn't mean the reasons aren't there.

That's not anyone's call to make except the Ukrainians. Easy for you to give up someone else's home. They will fight for it (and have been doing so for years).

All we can do is our best to deter a huge conflict.

You know the discussion is over when the WWII comparisons begin.
That's a bit of a simplistic view isn't it. The greatest world conflict, which started in Europe and still impacts on the continent today, isn't to be ignored.

I bet you'll be thinking about Godwin's Law too. The memory of Stalin's purges and what happened post '45 aren't forgotten by those in the region.
