My wife’s great grandparents lost their farm estate in modern-day Lithuania to the Soviets in WWII. Her great grand father was ahead of his time and had lots of cutting-edge machinery for his farm. The thing that hurt him most was not the loss of his farm and land but that the Soviet soldiers destroyed his tractors, machinery that could have continued to be used for agricultural purposes.
These are certainly dark times but I am enjoying this Revenge of the Tractors

Been speaking to my Aunt about this. She and both my cousins, my uncle etc were/are still in the British military and well connected still. She says we do have boots on the ground in Ukraine in an unofficial capacity on intelligence gathering. Suppose it's not suprising but it absolutely scared the bejeezus out of me, what if they are captured etc? Suppose it's no different to what the Russians did in Crimea but it's already ww3 by proxy. My cousin was supposed to be deployed overseas but the deployment has been put on hold based on Ukraine. She was saying they can't see how this ends, they will take Ukraine, they have too much force. Then what.

We are being frightened by the thought that two or three UK squaddies may be fighting there. Meanwhile the Russians are bringing in thousands from the Middle East and Belarus is joining in. NATO needs to get off its knees and tell Putin to do one. Meanwhile if Belarus sets one foot over the border, we should bomb the crap out of them and invade, purely to remove weapons and residual NAZI’s…..obviously taking care not to hit any Russians….as we don’t want to upset Putin……

They don’t.This is the big con. Russia was supposed to be this big invincible army where all its its soldiers were ten foot tall with the finest weapons on the planet. In reality, they are frightened conscripts, driving junk vehicles that are being taken out at will. Yes they can sit back and bomb cities, but they won’t win…..

Yeh, smash belarus
I think the c*** is lying about the 16,000 from the Middle East though, he’s trying to big his squad up

Belarus and Russia have a mutual defence agreement like NATO does.

That's true, but isn't relevant to the point I raised.

Why would any same person be "happy" with a dozen countries openly supplying weapons to an opponent during a war, but treat the potential supply of aircraft as an unacceptable escalation?
Agree there isn't any logical explanation which is why I think it might boil down to the practical one - if Putin complained about an unacceptable escalation with the small(er) arms it would be difficult to directly target a clear retaliation against their supply but complaining about aircraft makes delivering a direct response against the aircraft/airbase OK.

Another explanation might be because the other weapons have already been supplied, so if complained it was unacceptable then he has already set the stage for a retaliation he doesn't actually want to make but as the aircraft were not a fait accompli so he could try and block them without committing himself to either a response/empty complaints.

But not my area of expertise so would be interesting to see what explanations others more informed come up with.

Supplying Aircraft will make no difference. Russia has set up a complex arrangement of anti aircraft coverage already, in case NATO tried a no fly zone. Meanwhile the anti tank and ground to air missiles we are all supplying will kill him….if he loses his tanks and armour and he loses his aircraft he is fckd…….

Just driving home before , on Talkradio some "expert" saying Putin sacked another 2 of his Best Military Generals today .
Joked they might fall from a window.

Reckoned Putin now at a crossroads as his strategy has not worked , the Russian populous are now against the war.
On a knife edge which way he goes now.
Fingers crossed in goes the right way ?

Good to see them hit the Duma with sanctions...should have done this 2 weeks ago.

If Belarus does set foot in Ukraine then I think the 'allies' should send in a "peacekeeping" force.

The lie imo is that they are "volunteers". They'll all be mercenaries.

Im still surprised theres not been a large private army sent in from the West.
