Completely ignorant to this and I can't believe I'm actually posting this as a serious question, but where do we stand in terms of defense against a nuclear strike?
For example, Israel uses the Iron Dome system for air defense against missiles and the like, is there something similar in use across Europe that could defend against a potential nuclear strike?

I know it’s awful to watch this play out and see those poor people suffer so much.

The stakes are so high though. A big part of me wants NATO to get stuck in and kick this sorry looking bunch of scruffs back to Moscow.

Call Putin’s bluff and see if he really does have it in him to push the button, but then I find myself shouting FFS NO!

He must realize that nobody wins right? Or doesn’t he give a crap if it means he loses face withdrawing from Ukraine. The guy seems crazy but is he that crazy?

I just remembered that movie that we were made to watch as part of our curriculum in school, Threads, I think it was called? It scared the hell out of us. We were like 9 or 10!

We have stuff in place but we'd never be able to shoot down all the nukes Russia could send at us

There is no known technology that could stop them as far as I'm aware. Pretty sure Russia have some nuclear missiles capable of reaching extremely high speed which makes even monitoring them difficult never mind stopping them.

Even if we could stop 99 out of 100, that one would kill significant amounts of people.

As a parent, that's the million dollar question isn't it. We want it as far away as possible from us and our children.

But, if nothing gets done now, what happens when our children get older? Will they face the brunt of another threat of war/terror?

Thing is Putin is a dad too, he has two daughters which makes this situation even more unfathomable.

My point is we need to do all we can to stop Putin however it takes. It's just something they're not prepared to do.
Is it safeguarding the whole world or is it just safeguarding themselves?

But we can't stand by and let more genocide continue. But they will. In a hundred years we'll have

Secondly, the point is that Putin will keep on coming until its our turn, if nobody does anything. By that point there'll be a lot fewer to help us, and none at all if all other parties share your utterly selfish and inhuman viewpoint.
