I don’t disagree with you at all. But that’s all that is here, mass debating, we really have no control over the actions our leaders will take on this. I am certainly not ok with children being killed, but, we on the other hand have sat by while mass genocide has taken place in African countries.

Sadly it happens.

This is an atrocity. It is happening before our eyes for all to see. Putin must fail. But the west have to
stop him before it does escalate.

Putin is to a degree toying with us. He's pushing our buttons poking and prodding to get a reaction.

Frankly we're hiding behind both the rules of Nato and the fear of escalating the war in my opinion.

I have been totally against NATO involvement due to the worry about the obvious knock-on effects..... I have now seen enough horror to want us to just blow this utter c*** out of the water, I mean Dresden his arse. I know it is the innocents that will suffer but that is the situation he has created.
We cannot just watch another 5-10-20 days of this, without serious action.

Big NATO meeting next week. I’m not expecting any major policy shift though

They're too weak.

That's one comparable between now and before the start of WW2.

And, more significantly, Putin's previous wars.

I'm horrified, I am helpless. But I feel for those Ukrainians. They're asking for help for us to stop a mad man.

We say okay okay we'll stop buying your oil some time and freeze your Olly Garks oh and you can't go to McDonalds, but you can keep bombing Ukraine.

While wrong, totally wrong, collateral damage will always sadly occur in war - collateral damage being nothing more than a glib euphemism for suffering and civilian casualties.

The only difference is the tolerance that countries allow and the language used the describe it, with Russian being overtly unconcerned.

So what do we do? If we step up we quite possibly end up going nuke. I am horrified watching it unfold but, to put it on my/my kids doorstep is a different question.

I know it’s awful to watch this play out and see those poor people suffer so much.

The stakes are so high though. A big part of me wants NATO to get stuck in and kick this sorry looking bunch of scruffs back to Moscow.

Call Putin’s bluff and see if he really does have it in him to push the button, but then I find myself shouting FFS NO!

Hold your political leaders accountable.

Organize. Tell them that what is taking place is unacceptable. Tell them that both/all of your political parties are equally guilty of criminal malpractice of international relations. Tell them that if they don't straighten up and fly right, you'll vote them all out and replace them with competent technicians. It's too late to save the people of Ukraine. It's not too late to save everyone else.

It's the only way. Our governments are complacent because we, the people are complacent. What you are witnessing is the price of complacency. If we put a fire to their feet, they'll get off their duffs.

As a parent, that's the million dollar question isn't it. We want it as far away as possible from us and our children.

But, if nothing gets done now, what happens when our children get older? Will they face the brunt of another threat of war/terror?

It's a complete [Poor language removed] mess isn't it.

When I said sadly it happens, it was more because I can't answer about other wars and genocides. Even the invasion to Crimea I remember but also other wars Bosnia for example.

None are acceptable collateral damage is just not a few bombed buildings, and chippies, it's a full blown out murder of innocent people who are NOT at war. This is a war crime. Putin and his cronies will pay the price, Russian people will pay a price. But not before the poor people of Ukraine pay a greater price first.

We have to stop it. Not tomorrow, not today, but yesterday. I think nuke them before they nuke us. If we're to be honest.

Do the majority support an all out war against Russia? I'm not convinced that in the UK at least the general public appetite is there for a war.

What is happening in Ukraine is horrendous but it's hard to support nuclear war.

There is no nuke them before they nuke us. All countries have methods of counterstriking even if Moscow for example was destroyed. Your suggestion would result in more deaths than world war 2 in days.

True collateral damage, though, is where you hit a military target, but injure/kill civilians nearby, or you miss your target and accidentally hit civilians. Deliberately aiming at civilian targets, especially hospitals, is a different thing altogether. Admittedly, innocent civilians wind up dead in either case, but there's a big difference in numbers and intent.

I'm sure you're absolutely right.

My point is we need to do all we can to stop Putin however it takes. It's just something they're not prepared to do.
Is it safeguarding the whole world or is it just safeguarding themselves?

Putin is holding the whole world to ransom with the worst threat possible.
