Every day it seems Putin is speaking with Macron, someone from the EU or Israel. ffs guys, don’t pick up the phone, refuse to speak to him, don’t massage his ego, destroy it. Make him a nonentity…….

This would be a mistake. Turning Putin into Kim Jong-un is just asking for nuclear shenanigans. There is no course other than to engage with the major players on the world stage, unless you prefer conflict to the conference table.

I am now retired but my antennae are still sensitive regarding international relations.

Putin gathered 100,000 troops as well as ships around Ukraine. He then blatantly lied when he said there was no intention to invade. Now we see so many innocent people suffering because of an invasion.

I really fear that he is capable of accelerating this. He clearly does not care about the importance of human life.

It seems he wants to replicate the Russian Empire that existed under Nicolas iI. If he is not stopped, it won't end with Ukraine.

Russia will suffer huge casualties in Ukraine, and even if there is a military take over, they will not be able to keep a population of 40million plus quiet

He doesn't seem to care. Other former Soviet states must be really concerned.

There was an interesting panel discussion yesterday of military and political analysists. There was a view that the immediate threat is that Russia will continue to level Ukrainian cities, particularly Kyiv and that the Ukrainians have already dug in. The fear was that Russia will use chemical weapons to reach hidden troops and/or flush them out. The actions employed in Syria being the model drawn from. If this happens you wonder how long the west would sit on the side-lines watching.
