They’ve had regular big protests over there; in fact there were many more out when Navalny was on hunger strike last year:

This isn’t “the sanctions are working because they are on the streets”, it might be far from that.

People just don't want war.

Also they had bigger protests with a chance of civil war before Navalny was even in the picture. Nothing new for Russia, but also nothing you'd likely hear from Russia.

Does it? If they add “except to friendly states” (which it almost certainly is, I mean they aren’t going to cut the Chinese off) it becomes a really powerful weapon especially when the price keeps going up.

You’ll have leaders across the world signing up, and if they don’t then they’ll have opposition saying they’ll do it if they get into power.

Look to the East I'd imagine. Trade with China etc. Will probably nationalise some industry they've lost maybe who knows, there's prob people with a better understanding than me but I doubt he's sitting scratching his plums. You'd expect he'll have something up his sleeve if he's making these decisions.

I like your thinking on this. If Russia can only contact the west through their lower level ministers it’ll really boil Putin’s pee.

Currently it comes across to me that a few world leaders are trying to be the ones to broker a peace deal, it’s not in the hands of Macron that’s for sure. I only see Israel and China as the real peacemakers here.
