Petrol has gone up in price massively and is expecting to go up even more with no stop in sight.

That's a sanction by itself.

E: fuel in general, not only petrol. Diesel soaring as well obviously.
It's funny tho, the wests dependence/use of Russian fossil fuels was seen as a very important part of Putins arsenal at the start of all this.
Could he cut off supplies...? And now the western countries are beginning to turn that on Putin. He can't be happy about that.

As we have said many times before, Russia has put a lot into its air defence systems. But as anyone, like yourself, has been involved in actual operations, or anyone, like myself, who has been engaged in designing aircraft, will know, you don’t find out until it’s tried. Ukraine are doing the test bed trialling for all sorts of our stuff at the moment, and we are watching how Russia both applies its force and defends its force.…..
It’s their piss-poor planning and execution that is so startling.

I’ll use the first Gulf war as an example. In that one the coalition forces first undertook an air war that lasted for a month before we even thought about committing ground forces.

As part of that air war we systematically took out the Iraqi air force, the Iraqi air defence, command and control and destroyed their capability to manufacture weapons and ammunition - then we set about degrading their ground forces.

Then and only then did we launch the ground offensive.

These clowns just waltzed right in straight into hell. They are getting exactly what they deserve. It’s just amateurish, they totally underestimated Ukraine’s armed forces.

I think we've bitten that bullet (or called the bluff? idk) as now fuel prices are going up and the EU/West is deciding it's not that arsed about it...

We'll see though. Financial gains are financial gains and these are people who are after them, so...

Yeah, you're right. Shameful thing is at first he was allowed (much like an Austrian fellow some 80 or so years ago, huh) to do whatever because of the financial implications and because "nah he wouldn't".

Welp. He would, it turns out.

For what it's worth - don't think it will sink in, that's not a consideration that's been done. It will be more propaganda, more "Russian power" shouts and we will continue this.

It will be, and we need to prepare for that and everything it entails.

Indeed, he’s played his cards, we can now undo the self harm we have done (Germany nuclear power stations, U.K. shale gas, oil, coal and North Sea gas) and become self sufficient. This will kill Russia economically…..

As I said earlier - hopefully he becomes very ill with bullets in the head and goes away rapidly, so that the next person is hopefully more sane (big doubts as well as it is Russia, but oh well) and the sanctions and everything are as gone as possible.

Hopefully after this ends the Russian populace doesn't get too punished for their dictator's actions...

Arrogant. They believed their own hype. Again, our lot will be in disbelief at the unprofessional approach by the Russians. We’ve learnt a lot, but it’s like looking at WW2…….

Been thinking about this.
It's almost like, right to the top, they believed their own hype. They believed that the Ukrainians would welcome their intervention. VZ's reluctance to evacuate anyone or panic his people in any way probably played right in to that narrative. Even so, the fact that the Russians were so under prepared, especially given their proximity and knowledge of the geography is shocking!
