I am not sure - he could, but this is such an awful gamble with the lives of millions at stake (of his own citizens and those abroad).

It’s a massive gamble, but the whole of the west is now behind him, the much vaunted Russian military have been shown up and to be frank, Putin has shot his bolt……

Will these aircraft not be vulnerable to cruise missile attack whilst on the ground at their bases in western Ukraine?
Yes. However Ukraine can protect those air bases with their own AD systems. Cruise missiles are slow and generally easy to detect and shoot down.

It’s the Iskander missiles that are the real risk as they have a ballistic trajectory and are therefore much more difficult to detect and engage.

If the Ukes can stop those Iskanders from getting to close and in range of their airfields then they should be good

that is going to screw over an awful lot of countries and put severe pressure on NATO and the EU structurally
Yes, for more renewables and probably will mean that countries like ourselves would need to get the nuclear power back up. Woe is not us.

Also the Azeri/Turkish gas line is viable and working currently. As I said - not unsolvable as far as problems go.

Plus this is all assuming Putin is alive by the end of 2023. Also "no exports until 2023" is reasonable - currently no one wants to touch them anyway? Businesses and more backing out of Russia, most things from Russia being rejected or removed... I mean it's already happening currently.

I am not sure it would be anything like that, at all.
It certainly would be, the US Air force alone is the largest air force in the world. The second largest is the US Navy. Plus, as we've seen from this war the Russian equipment is poorly kept and the soldiers are poorly trained. Plus, if you look at the actual operational records of the planes, Im not sure a Russian made plane has ever taken out an F-15, F-16, F-22, or F-35 in air-to-air combat. The technological advantage is huge, and thats for just one nation.

The only thing keeping Russia from being destroyed is the fact they have nukes, and may be crazy enough to use them.

The natural gas will be a bit problematic, but not unsolvable.

The only thing I'll miss from Russia is the Russian torrent site tbh.
It will affect oil, wheat, coal, some medicines, precious metals, wood, fertalisers, vehicle parts and computer parts from what I can gather. To what extent I don't know. UK had over 2 billion of trade with Russia I think as well. Im not sure how it plays out but things definitely won't be getting cheaper. Of all on the list gas, oil, coal, wheat and fertalisers are definitely the most concerning but again I don't know the amounts that were being exported
