Winds tend to blow west to east. It’s certainly not in Russia’s interests to invoke a nuclear accident at one of those power plants. I suspect some Ruski squaddies got a little too trigger happy last night.

Another example of lack of command and control by the Russian military.
I hope you're mistaken. I hope they knew exactly what they were doing. Another 4 nuclear plants or so to go. If it's trigger happy squaddies then we're bound to get an accident.

I don't think they really care.
With these sanctions we risk losing Russia, (even when Putin is gone), as well as Ukraine.
Chinese companies might get a free reign in Russia and make it a de facto economic vassal state + it's another market of 140m people to peddle their goods.
We should work towards quick de-escalation, not only for humanitarian reasons, but also for long term geopolitical reasons.
Whilst they might get more of the share of the Russia market even before all this Russia’s nominal gdp was only ~ 1.5 trillion and that is going to take a severe hit.

It would be mental to trade a small increase in % share of a decreasing market at the expense of market share in higher GDP countries. Could be wrong of course but just don’t see China risking that.
However agree they will look to exploit Russian assets on sale, especially commodities.

Also agree on the de-escalation but takes two to tango and up til today Putin didn’t seem to have much interest.

Literally my colleague of 6 years who i share a truck cabin with 12 hours a day is a 50 year old Romanian.

Let me get back to you soon.

You replied me SC. You didn't have to do this.
Has he got you on the palinca yet?

My missuses, now sadly deceased, step dad decided to mess me up on it as a way of making friends. He was a good man of similar era. Fwiw he was very much pro-EU integration and being part of NATO post communism. It's not a universally shared view though, some of the slightly older generation are less keen.

The reporting from the propaganda outlets make it out the Russian army are a bunch of slap stick figures like Charlie Chaplin. With cowardice a plenty and confusion to why they are there they think Putin sent them in for a shop run. While the Ukrainians are bullet dodging rambos on steroids.

I expect a full retreat soon. Russians can't last like this.
Is it so impossible to decipher that the true situation is somewhere between that reported by the West (if we presume that all Wester outlets are pro-ukraine, either consciously or subconsciously), and that reported by Russin state media (obviously pro-Putin, because Gulag otherwise)?

Rational thought says the Ukrainians are resisting more effectively, and in greater numbers, than predicted but are running low on ammo, munitions, food, water and medical supplies to the point that the outlook must be bleak. Equally the Russian military has obviously made significant inroads into Ukrainian territory and have surrounded elements of the Ukrainian army in various strategically significant locations, but is clearly experiencing more mechanical and equipment failures than expected and has made some tactical errors leading to troop casualties.

Mad that people will willingly believe what they want to, and also denigrate information they don't want to believe, based on their own preconceived notions. The urge to be viewed as "correct" when giving an opinion, and stubbornly attacking contrary opinions, is a scourge on modern society - as is biased news reporting, of course.

Do you know that date time frame on there includes countries and unions that have come and gone within that time frame from 1946. Stalin sick disgusting rule is included on there and his massacres. Other countries at civil war fought and won and fought amd lost again. Countries with not only government revolutions but some with complete name changes.

If you move that to exclude stalins brand of soviet union America and friends obliterate them. And what mode of government is still rankng supreme to this day? Yellow usa.

I want all these governments toppled east and west. I specified a few times. I said the Russian government needs to be toppled.

As you showed the unofficial boss of NATO -USA are doing poorly there. While nato has carried out a lot of the heavy lifting for usa its hard to pin point a country for that as nato isn't a country.

So yes. They are bad guys.

They are the ones that we are in and we we to reject along with our American friends. We are the ones in these countries and I will include myself. I'm not finger pointing cause I'm in the Republic of Ireland. We host Facebook and amazon etc. We are in the corperatocracy and have been infiltrated. I can see it in our propaganda. need to do something about it we are as complicit as nato countries and usa.

There is no goodies v badies in this.
Pretty sure Putin's orders to shell largely defenceless civilian populations, trapped in cities surrounded by his invading troops, qualifies him as a "bad guy".

Just a hunch.
