the total rejection of the no-fly zone option, which was a bit more of an open question last week.
Utter, utter, drivel, mate. There was a zero possibility of a no fly zone on minute one, and there is still zero possibility. Not remotely influenced by the Putin childish foot stamping about 'you berra not do anything, or else!'. Next he'll be threatening to squeam and squeam until he's thick.

Whats interesting is the lack of political discourse in Russia that presents a proper alternative to the 'strongman' politics that have controlled it for generations.

They cant join the EU, they cant join NATO - they have the largest nuclear arsenal in the world, and are the largest country in the world.

What is the way forward?
From within, presuming the conditions for revolution and / or a coup are met.

Not saying its likely

you're right, I just noticed a lot less rhetoric from the west on the matter this week.

No I mean politically, how do they evolve from a pariah state given all the above issues
They don't, at least in the short run, short of the improbable emergence of a revolutionary leader.

We had our shot in 1991, and we booted it. This was due to circumstances. We supported a known corrupt drunkard at crunch time, because he was a substantial improvement on the Kremlin hard-liners and there were no realistic alternatives.

This yielded the current kleptocracy that we all know and love. It's pretty entrenched, and digging it out will take some doing.

I know a guy.............. lol
@Kev The Rat laughing at a piece quoting a guy from the US Treasury…………..
I kind of agree mate

I'm trying to look at what will actually happen, unfortunate as the outcome may be.

Me or you or anyone here sitting here 'cheerleading' for one side or the other isnt going to alter anything.

Another call from a friend this evening - business has never been so brisk for some as Russians attempting to evade detection in the face of sanctions, continue to launder their money to London, at a slightly higher cost than before.
…………. but he’s had “another call” from a friend and we’re all supposed to take it as the gospel according to the man himself! You couldn’t make it up ???!

I don’t know mate. All the talk before the attack began was of how the Ukrainians would fight for every inch of ground and would rather die than surrender.

The idea that Putin discounted that and expected to waltz in and out within 3 days is fanciful
So this catastrophic invasion was planned, Kev? Putin wanted to make Russian forces look weak and ineffectual?
